Recently released on July 17, Ana Cristina Cash unveils her heartfelt new single, “How Do I Live,” in both English and Spanish, offering a fresh bilingual interpretation of the beloved Diane Warren classic. The Spanish version, “Cómo Vivir Sin Verte,” reflects Cash’s signature blend of country, Latin, and Americana influences, celebrating her bicultural roots while introducing the timeless ballad to a new generation of listeners. The dual-language release continues her commitment to bridging musical traditions and expanding the reach of classic songs through a modern, emotionally rich performance.

Speaking about the single and her personal connection to the song, Cash shares, “For me, it was one of my favorite childhood songs. It came out when I was 12, and I first heard the English versions by LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood. Both versions were such a big part of my life growing up. Living in Miami, hearing a song like that made me think, ‘Wow, country music is cool. Look how beautiful this song is and these are country artists.’ It became one of my earliest introductions to country music because it crossed so effortlessly between country and pop. That’s what made such a lasting impression on me and ultimately inspired me to record my own version.” Written by the legendary songwriter Diane Warren, “How Do I Live” was adapted into Spanish by acclaimed songwriter and producer Rudy Pérez, a longtime friend of Cash’s. His translation, “Cómo Vivir Sin Verte,” brings new depth to the ballad while honoring the spirit of Warren’s original composition.

For Cash, recording the song in both languages was an essential part of the project. “If I was going to record this song, I knew I wanted to do it in both English and Spanish because it’s never been done before by the same singer in both languages. I also wanted to give it a fresh 2026 production. We recorded at the Cash Cabin Studio with my husband, John Carter Cash, producing, and we also did some of the recording in Los Angeles at NightBird Recording Studios. It’s such a powerful song that still connects with me today, and I think there are probably a lot of younger listeners especially Gen Z who may have never even heard it. I wanted to introduce this incredible song to a new generation while honoring the original,” Cash shared.

Asked about the importance of connecting with audiences across cultures, Cash reflects on her heritage and identity, “It’s such a huge part of my identity because I grew up speaking both Spanish and English at home,” she said. Adding, “Culturally, I’m very Latina, very Cuban, and that’s how I identified for most of my life growing up in Miami. At the same time, I also have family from Spain, and that’s another connection that’s become very meaningful to me. I actually filmed the music video there just a few weeks ago, in Asturias, where my great-grandparents were from. Being bilingual has always been a gift, and it’s incredibly important to me that I can connect with both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking audiences. Music has the power to transcend language, and being able to share this song in both languages allows me to honor every part of who I am while reaching listeners throughout the United States, Latin America, Spain, and beyond.”
