| Marc Brown, ABC7 Eyewitness News, is receiving the Los Angeles Press Club’s highest honor, the Joseph M Quinn Award for Lifetime Achievement, at the 63rd Annual SoCal Journalism Awards Gala on October 16.
“Marc has devoted his life and career to informing the community in his native Los Angeles,” said Los Angeles Press Club President Lisa Richwine. “He exemplifies the type of journalist we look to honor with the Quinn Award.”
Marc is the co-anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. He joined ABC7 in 1989 as a reporter and weekend anchor.
Marc was born in Los Angeles, where he attended Narbonne High School. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism and political science.
Marc’s first on-air job was in 1984 at KIEM-TV in Eureka, California. He went on to work as a reporter and anchor at KOLO-TV in Reno, Nevada, KNTV in San Jose and KFMB-TV in San Diego.
Marc has won six Emmys, a Golden Mike, an Associated Press award and a Radio and Television News Directors Association award for excellence in TV news reporting.
He is active in the community as a speaker at schools and as a master of ceremonies for community events.
Marc and his wife Diana and have two children: Vince, 5, and Mila, 9.

The evening will be dedicated to the memory of Ruth Pearl, the mother of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, and Buster Sussman, a member of the LA Press Club since 1948 and a former LAPC director.
More than 500 journalists and media executives are expected to attend this prestigious event. The Los Angeles Press Club is closely monitoring the development of the new Delta variant of Covid and all current information on the evolution of the disease. The LAPC will follow all recommended guidelines from LA County and protocols already in place at the Biltmore Hotel. In addition, we will require proof of vaccination or, in some cases, a negative Covid test and all safety rules specified by the CDC.
Proceeds from the Gala are the largest source of income for the Los Angeles Press Club a 501(c) 3 that speaks for journalists across all media platforms. All contributions are tax-deductible.
