Despite a Desert Downpour, the Music, Costumes, and Halloween Spirit Kept the Party Going on Arenas Road
Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 11/2/26 – Not even the pouring rain could dampen the Halloween spirit in downtown Palm Springs as the Arenas District came alive with music, outrageous costumes, dancing, and an unforgettable performance by legendary R&B and funk group KLYMAXX featuring Cherry Cooley.
Presented by Jeff Hocker Productions, the Arenas District Halloween Weekend Dance Party #2 transformed one of Palm Springs’ most popular entertainment districts into a lively outdoor Halloween celebration, bringing together locals, visitors, music lovers, and the LGBTQ+ community for an evening of entertainment.
And what a night it was!
A VIP Halloween Experience
I had an extra reason to look forward to this year’s festivities. At the L-Fund Gala, I was the highest bidder on a package of four VIP tickets to the Halloween celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity to support a meaningful cause while enjoying one of Palm Springs’ most anticipated Halloween parties with friends.
The VIP experience added a special touch to an already exciting evening, and despite the unpredictable weather, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm.
KLYMAXX Takes Center Stage
The evening’s headliner, KLYMAXX featuring Cherry Cooley, delivered the kind of energetic, nostalgic performance that reminded everyone why the group’s music remains so beloved decades after its original success.
Known for their signature blend of funk, R&B, dance music, and soulful ballads, KLYMAXX helped define the sound of the 1980s.
The group is celebrated for memorable hits including “Meeting in the Ladies Room,” “The Men All Pause,” “I Miss You,” and “I’d Still Say Yes.”
Throughout the evening, the performers entertained the crowd with a lively combination of KLYMAXX favorites and familiar cover songs, creating a musical celebration that crossed generations.
The audience responded enthusiastically, singing along, dancing, and enjoying the nostalgia of songs that have remained favorites for more than four decades.
What made the performance even more memorable was the weather.
As the rain poured down, the music continued. Rather than allowing the storm to bring the festivities to a halt, the performers kept entertaining, and enthusiastic concertgoers stayed to enjoy the show.
There was something wonderfully Palm Springs about watching people dance in the rain on Halloween night, refusing to let a little bad weather interfere with their fun.
More Than Just a Concert
The October 31 celebration ran from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. and featured an entertainment lineup designed to keep the party going throughout the evening.
In addition to KLYMAXX featuring Cherry Cooley, the advertised lineup included MKX, Meaty Beats by Juan, and Modgirl, bringing a mix of musical styles and dance-party energy to the Arenas District.
One of the evening’s major attractions was the $2,000 costume contest, which took place at 7:30 p.m.
Halloween in Palm Springs is never an ordinary occasion, and the Arenas District has become a favorite destination for those who love elaborate costumes, creative self-expression, and festive nightlife.
From playful and glamorous outfits to spooky and imaginative ensembles, the Halloween spirit was everywhere.
The combination of live music, dancing, costumes, and community celebration made the event much more than a traditional concert.

A Little Rain Couldn’t Stop the Party
Of course, the unexpected star of the evening may have been Mother Nature herself.
The pouring rain created a Halloween atmosphere that nobody could have planned, but it also made the evening especially memorable.
There is something magical about hearing familiar songs performed live while watching a crowd of dedicated music fans continue dancing despite the weather.
KLYMAXX embraced the evening with energy and enthusiasm, delivering a performance that celebrated the enduring appeal of their music.
For those of us who remember dancing to these songs when they first became hits, hearing them performed live brought back wonderful memories.
And for younger audience members, it was an opportunity to experience the music of a group whose influence continues to resonate.
Celebrating Music, Community, and Palm Springs
As the Halloween festivities came to a close, one thing was certain: the Arenas District knows how to throw a party, rain or shine.
Between the memorable performance by KLYMAXX featuring Cherry Cooley, the entertainment lineup, the colorful Halloween costumes, and the energy of the crowd, the evening offered plenty of reasons to celebrate.
Congratulations to Jeff Hocker Productions and everyone involved in bringing another exciting Halloween celebration to Palm Springs.
And a special thank-you to the L-Fund for the opportunity to support its important work through the gala auction while enjoying this VIP experience.
The rain may have soaked the streets, but it certainly didn’t wash away the Halloween spirit.
That’s Palm Springs for you; a little rain, a lot of music, and always a reason to dance!
