Sherman Oaks, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/25/26 – Written and Directed by Brenda Wachel | Starring Maria Bata, Gui Agustini and Evan Gamble
In the Deep is a poignant 26-minute drama exploring love, loss, betrayal and the difficult journey toward accepting the truth.
When Marga (Maria Bata) discovers that her fiancé has mysteriously disappeared, her seemingly perfect life unravels. Caught between cherished memories and painful uncertainty, she struggles to distinguish hope from reality. An unexpected encounter ultimately challenges everything she believes about love and trust.
Writer-director Brenda Wachel brings emotional sensitivity to her narrative directing debut, exploring how easily love can blind us to uncomfortable truths. Maria Bata anchors the story with a vulnerable portrayal of a woman confronting heartbreak and rediscovering her strength.
At its heart, In the Deep reminds us that sometimes the hardest part of losing someone isn’t letting go but accepting what was never truly ours to hold.
The film screened at the 2026 LA Femme International Film Festival in Sherman Oaks.
