(The Hollywood Times) 10/15/26 – Filmmaker Santo D. Marabella returns with Affectionately!, a seven-minute short written by and starring Elaine Soltis as Norma Jean. The film explores how memories of the past can remain with us long after the spotlight has faded.
While the premise offers an opportunity for an emotionally compelling story, Affectionately! doesn’t quite achieve the impact I had hoped for. Its reflective approach has merit, but I found myself wanting more emotional depth and a stronger connection to its central character.
Having appreciated Marabella’s earlier documentary, Il Mio Posto A Tavola (My Place at the Table), particularly its authenticity and deeply personal exploration of identity and belonging, I know the filmmaker is capable of creating meaningful, thought-provoking work.
Although Affectionately! didn’t resonate with me as strongly as his previous film, I appreciate Marabella’s continued commitment to independent storytelling and giving personal experiences a voice.

Film Credits: Directed and produced by Santo D. Marabella. Written by Elaine Soltis. Starring Elaine Soltis as Norma Jean. Cinematography by David Hall. Runtime: 6 minutes, 59 seconds.
