Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 3/20/26 – As both a proud media partner through The Hollywood Times and a dedicated supporter of the arts through the Milano Foundation, I am especially honored to spotlight Fashioning Architecture, a stunning new exhibition at the Palm Springs Art Museum. As part of Fashioning Architecture: What the Runway Borrows from Architecture, the Palm Springs Art Museum convenes an engaging conversation between Christine Vendredi, JoAnn McGrath Executive Director and Chief Curator, and acclaimed designer Trina Turk, whose work offers a vivid case study in fashion’s ongoing dialogue with modernist architecture.

Guests are invited to arrive early at 10:00 AM to join Christine and Trina in inaugurating the new seating lounge at the Architecture and Design Center, located in the former director’s office.

Through projected imagery and dynamic dialogue, the program explores how built form shapes the conception, styling, and photographic framing of fashion. At its core, Fashioning Architecture explores a fascinating intersection: how architecture becomes an essential collaborator in the world of fashion. While a runway show may last less than thirty minutes, its impact can shape global trends—and the environment in which it unfolds plays a powerful role in that storytelling.

From historic Palm Springs settings to iconic global landmarks, the exhibition reveals how designers transform spaces into immersive experiences. Whether staged in sweeping natural landscapes, architectural icons, or purpose-built environments, fashion shows are as much about place as they are about clothing.

Through a compelling mix of photography, video, and firsthand perspectives from industry insiders, visitors gain a behind-the-scenes look at the rituals of the runway—from backstage preparation to front-row anticipation. These elements come together to elevate a collection beyond garments into a fully realized artistic moment.

Curated by Christine Vendredi, Chief Curator, the exhibition highlights how leading fashion houses view architecture not simply as a backdrop, but as a creative partner. The structure, scale, and atmosphere of a venue can amplify a designer’s vision, influencing how a collection is perceived and remembered.

From vintage Palm Springs fashion moments to contemporary global showcases, Fashioning Architecture draws a throughline connecting past and present illustrating how design, in all its forms, continues to evolve through collaboration.

As part of the museum’s Architecture and Design initiative, the exhibition reinforces Palm Springs’ legacy as a hub of modernist innovation. By bridging fashion and architecture, the show underscores the city’s ongoing influence on creative industries worldwide.

For visitors and locals alike, Fashioning Architecture offers a fresh perspective on two dynamic art forms—revealing that what we wear and where we present it are deeply intertwined.
