CV Lip Sync Battle Contestants Brave the Heat, the Hustle, and Their Own Jazz Hands
Palm Springs, CA – It’s 112 degrees outside, but the real heat is coming from the Palm Springs Cultural Center, where the 2025 CV Lip Sync Battle contestants are sweating it out just walking from their cars into rehearsal.

This year, The Center is the beneficiary of this fundraising battle in which nine teams are battling for $1,000, and they’re also struggling to get their busy executives to rehearsals. Teams have resorted to scheduling practice during lunch breaks, on Zoom calls and, in one case, a surprise meeting that led to a performance on Palm Canyon.
The 2025 Lineup:
- American Cancer Society – proving laughter and SPF 100 is the best medicine.
- Animal Samaritans – where “downward dog” is a yoga pose and a team member.
- Cancer Support Community – supporting each other through every music cue.
- Cathedral City LGBT+ Days – bringing the energy that makes you want to join the parade.
- Desert Business Association – where business casual meets costume change in the bathroom.
- Friends of the Desert Mountains – have traded hiking boots for dance shoes.
- The L-Fund – lip syncing for lesbians, and anyone who’s ever belted out an anthem in the shower.
- Palm Springs Parks and Recreation – They’ve got recreation right in their name.
- Safe House of the Desert – Showing that safe spaces can be the most fun places.
Producer Shann Carr says, “Getting a room full of nonprofit leaders, business execs, or city employees to rehearse together is like trying to organize a flash mob at a tax seminar. But somehow, they have been showing up for the fun since the event’s inception in 2015. And let’s not forget the physical toll. Some of our more experienced performers have discovered muscles they haven’t used since the Reagan administration.”
As always, last year’s contestants return as judges and coaches, ready to offer encouragement, an ice pack and the occasional side-eye! The costumes are wild, the competition is fierce, and the only thing more dramatic than the performances are the group texts about what to wear.
And don’t leave early! This year, the unsung heroes of the event, the tech crew, are stepping out from behind the curtain for a special exhibition number.
