Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 08/27/2025 – In a genre dominated by ghosts, killers, and supernatural entities, Spot Me dares to ask a more intimate and terrifyingly human question: What if the real monster is ambition itself?

The upcoming bodybuilding thriller from filmmakers Skylar Okerstrom-Lang and Julian Enriquez is a visceral deep dive into the world of gym culture, masculinity, and the obsessive pursuit of physical perfection.

Set against the iron-clanging backdrop of amateur bodybuilding, Spot Me follows Dylan, a newly driven lifter whose hunger for greatness leads him to a mysterious underground supplement promising impossible gains. The price of greatness proves steep as Dylan’s body morphs beyond human limits. His mind unravels, relationships fracture, and his dream of glory twists into a nightmare.

“We’re not trying to scare people with jump scares,” said Okerstrom-Lang. “We’re asking them to look in the mirror.”

Spot Me is the total commitment of its creators. Co-writers and stars Okerstrom-Lang and Enriquez spent over a year physically preparing, training under former Mr. America John Kozma. Their intensive bodybuilding regimens mirrored their characters’ transformations, blurring the line between performance and lived experience.

“When we come face to face with challenges, we listen to each other,” said Okerstrom-Lang of the production and business process. “You can either be right or be in relationship.”

In agreement with Okerstrom-Lang’s statement, Enriquez added, “I’m growing to learn that it’s okay to be challenged. Not everything is going to be great right away.”

The transformation isn’t just cinematic. It’s real. On September 1, the duo will step on stage at the Muscle Beach Championship in Venice, California, competing live as bodybuilders. It is a bold move that blurs the line between actor and character, fiction and flesh.

“The competition is part of the process,” said Enriquez. “It’s a way to fully step into the world of the film. And honestly, it’s terrifying. Which feels right for a horror movie.”

Okerstrom-Lang’s journey began in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, where he grew up surrounded by nature and a restless creative spirit.

“School didn’t really work for me,” he recalled, “but being on stage did. Maybe it was the thrill, or maybe my ADHD meds just wore off by then, but performing felt like home.”

That drive led Okerstrom-Lang to DePaul University in Chicago for a BFA in Performance, followed by a stint chasing Broadway dreams in New York before landing in Los Angeles. Now, Spot Me marks the culmination of a lifelong search for stories that disrupt, provoke, and awaken.

Storytelling, for Enriquez, became a lifeline because movies were not just a passion, but a means of healing after his parents’ divorce. Now, as a filmmaker, he is on a mission to create spaces for others to feel the same.

“Life can be overwhelming,” said Enriquez. “But art helps us stay human. That’s what I’m chasing.”

More than muscles and madness, Spot Me probes the cost of chasing impossible perfection. In a culture obsessed with image and validation, its power lies in asking the question we all carry inside:

When does ambition stop being inspiring and start becoming monstrous?
