Palm Springs, California— In honor of today’s National Food Bank Day, the Center’s Community Food Bank is proud to announce that we have a new home! As of September 1st, The Center is leasing 2901 E. Alejo Road, building 12 from The City of Palm Springs, and over these next four weeks, we’ll be preparing this warehouse to be the new home of our Community Food Bank!
According to HARC’s 2022 Coachella Valley Community Health Survey, 1 in 7 local adults had to cut the size of meals, or skip meals, because they didn’t have enough money for food. This means 48,670 of our neighbors are experiencing food insecurity, which highlights the significance of The Center’s Community Food Bank This new location, with its significantly larger warehouse, will allow us to expand our program to ensure everyone in our community who needs food gets it when they come to The Center.
Food distribution at this site will begin in October with a ribbon cutting and open house scheduled for Friday, November 1st from 4:30pm – 6:00pm. It’ll be the perfect way to kick-off Greater Palm Springs Pride weekend! Stay tuned for more details!
