LA’s Rich & Successful Film Festival moves to the Egyptian this Fall

Los Angeles, CA (April 26, 2024) – LA’s Rich & Successful Film Festival 3 (RSFF 3), presented by Topcat Management, and co-presented by sogbots and the American Cinematheque, announced the film festival will take place this year on September 20-21. For the first time, RSFF will screen its highly curated selection of shorts at Los Angeles’ historic Egyptian Theatre (6712 Hollywood Blvd.). The Call for Entries has begun with the Regular Deadline set for May 10 and Late Deadline set for June 14.

This year’s festival will be curated by a unique jury comprising alumni filmmakers, junior executives, and seasoned programmers. The jury will include Festival Directors Page Brady, Nir Liebenthal, Noah Morse, Jeremy Roth-Rose, Dylan Trupiano, Producer and former Sundance programmer DaManuel Richardson, Slamdance award-winning director Yuchi Ma, RSFF 2 alumni Tiffany Lin, Producer and former Slamdance programmer Jake Rotger, and Imani Davis on behalf of the American Cinematheque, among other jurors set to join.

Created by LA-based independent filmmakers to provide a fun, yet tangibly supportive event for filmmakers to platform their short films, RSFF is a non-competitive space for filmmakers to introduce their work to new audiences, connect industry mainstays and rising executives, and shake hands with future collaborators. RSFF takes its mission to boost the next generation of filmmaking talent as seriously as it takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to its branding. Previous alumni include Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Sean Wang, Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film” Aurora Brachman, and filmmaker Samantha Marie Ware (Glee).

In addition to RSFF’s festival screenings at the Egyptian Theatre on Saturday, September 21, workshops, panel discussions, and networking events for the selected filmmakers and RSFF’s patrons will take place in the lead up to the event on Friday, September 20 and the morning of Saturday, September 21.

RSFF Festival Directors Nir Liebenthal, Noah Morse, Jeremy Roth-Rose, Dylan Trupiano, and Page Brady said, “As filmmakers ourselves, we wanted to make the festival that we’d want to attend: one that struck a balance between handling the business of promoting your work, and having fun within an atmosphere that encourages you to build real friendships and relationships. Our hope is that RSFF creates a space for filmmakers to meaningfully connect with one another and can lead to our attendees learning from one another outside of the festival. While our primary goal is to continue developing a new ecosystem for rising independent filmmakers in LA, we are constantly striving to connect their work to the eyes that wouldn’t normally see it. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to showcase the works of our selected filmmakers in an iconic movie palace like the Egyptian to help us achieve this goal.”

All Official Selections, as well as some additional films not included in the screenings at the Egyptian Theatre, will be featured in RSFF’s digital catalog, which is distributed to festival attendees and industry professionals for additional exposure.

The RSFF Directors, Liebenthal, Morse, Roth-Rose, Trupiano, and Brady added, “We originally came up with the ‘rich and successful’ name as an aspirational and ironic stamp on what we wanted out of the festival, mainly because we were broke and confused filmmakers ourselves. Now, after two years of sold-out screenings and alumni filmmakers continuing to find success in their work, it seems that we’re able to find a little pocket in the festival ecosystem that allows us to continue to respond to the needs of filmmakers like ourselves as we head into our third year.”

About the Rich & Successful Film Festival (RSFF)
Founded in 2021 by sogbots, a production company run by Nir Liebenthal, Noah Morse, Jeremy Roth-Rose, and Dylan Trupiano, and joined the following year by Page Brady as Lead Producer, RSFF curates a slate of short films by LA-based filmmakers across all genres.
