Palm Springs, CA-Comedian Shann Carr and the LGBTQ+ Community Center of the Desert are thrilled to bring you the CV Lip Sync Battle. It’s happening Saturday, September 6th at 6:00 PM in the big theatre at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. Get ready for a night of wild performances.
This isn’t your grandma’s talent show (unless your grandma can lip sync to Beyoncé, in either case, bring her). This year, nine teams from some of the valley’s most beloved organizations will battle for $1,000, bragging rights, and a year’s supply of local glory.
Who’s bringing the heat? The 2025 lineup includes teams from:
American Cancer Society (because laughter is the best medicine)
Animal Samaritans (expect some paws-itively wild moves)
Cancer Support Community (bringing the support with sparkle)
Cathedral city LGBT+ Days (bringing pride from the streets to the stage)
Desert Business Association (networking, but with sequins)
Friends of the Desert Mountains (they’ll rock you like a landslide)
L-FUND (lip syncing for lesbians)
Palm Springs Parks and Recreation (they’ve got moves and maybe a whistle)
Safe House PS (safe, but not from the fierce competition)
“The Lip Sync Battle proves that even desk nerds can whip up some ‘it factor,’” says Shann Carr, the Battle’s producer since 2015. That first year, Mike Thompson, Executive Director of The Center won first place. In fact, The Center’s team has always placed in the top three and this year has graduated to co-presenting the event! Shann says, “I get to help business leaders, overworked Executive Directors, and therapy dog handlers shine like pop stars!”
As always, last year’s contestants return as judges and coaches, offering advice and maybe some side-eye to this year’s fresh talent. The costumes are wild, the competition is hilariously intense, and the lip syncing will make you grin every time you hear those songs again. Whether you’re cheering for your favorite team or just in it for the laughs, this is another one of Shann’s can’t-miss summer events created specifically for locals to play together.
