The 12th annual SOVAS Voice Arts Awards took place on January 18, 2025, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. This prestigious event recognizes the exceptional talents of voice actors across various entertainment domains, including Animation, Film, TV, audio description, video games, political advertising, podcasts, and spoken word. The awards are presented by Audible and receive additional sponsorship from United Airlines, Comcast, NBCUniversal, SiriusXM, and Telemundo.
The awards celebrate the often-overlooked voices behind many beloved media projects, distinguishing them from on-screen actors whose faces and personal lives are more well-known to audiences. This year’s ceremony was particularly notable, featuring a lineup of esteemed presenters and guests. Debbe Hirata was honored with the Legacy Award, while Fabián Toro received the Apex Award. Notable attendees included Ania O’Hare, Anika Noni Rose, Anjali Bhimani, Brian Stivale, Chilu Lemba, and many others.
A highlight of the evening was the inaugural James Earl Jones Prize awarded to Laurence Fishburne, who was presented the honor by his co-star Angela Bassett and James Earl Jones’s son, Flynn Earl Jones. This prize was established to commemorate the profound impact of James Earl Jones, recognizing performers who exemplify artistic excellence, integrity, and cultural influence in the voice acting community and beyond.
