WITCH review, with Hollywood Misogyny industry angle

(Note: “Witch” has been fully produced twice beyond this concert. Once in Falls Church, Va, and once in Baltimore, MD. Photos below show that evidence.)

Arlington, VA (The Hollywood Times) 10/16/24 – A staged reading of a new musical comedy titled starkly “Witch” — with a sly and sympathetic take on Wicked Witches everywhere; also featuring a jaundiced view of motion picture misogyny in early Hollywood — opened for two nights only, this week in Alexandria Virginia.

The spare staging was presented as a reading, not a full production — it’s clearly a work still in progress.
But it’s close enough to being ready for prime time.  This Valentine to witchy women and their covert covens everywhere may at last be fully staged somewhere soon. Let’s hope so.
It sure deserves a wide audience at a time when faux-populists swarm to support the brooding dictator-wannabe of Mar-a-lago. The man often labeled Agent Orange now cycles in petulant bipolar circles, orbiting in fits and starts like Darth Vader around his campaign Death Star. How do we keep our constitutional democracy while He Who Must Not Be Named runs through the spastic paces of his increasingly paranoid pursuit of a second virtually lawless second term?
