Tim Burton Exhibition at the Design Museum: A Glimpse Into the Madness of a Cinematic Genius

It’s hard to envision Tim Burton as anything other than one of cinema’s most distinctive figures.

By Tequila Mockingbird

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/3/25 – I’ve only worked with Tim Burton once—on Batman with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. I was cast in a crowd scene, and as fate would have it, I ended up on the cutting room floor. My hair was neon fluorescent green, so I probably drew a bit too much attention. But hey, that’s just my look 24/7. It was Burton’s movie, so I didn’t take it personally, but I did notice something—I’d never seen many Black people in his films, and I thought, Well, I could’ve been a good start. But putting that aside, I’ve always appreciated his unique brand of madness.

Now, if you’ve ever wanted to explore Tim Burton’s offbeat world, here’s your chance: The Tim Burton Exhibition is currently on display at the Design Museum in London. This is the final stop on its world tour, which has already visited 14 cities across 11 countries. The exhibition offers an in-depth look at Burton’s creative genius, featuring over 600 items from his 18 films, including props, costumes, and storyboards. You’ll also get a closer look at his other artistic endeavors, including paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
