The Film Awards kick off the annual Palm Springs International Film Festival on Thursday with star-studded list of 2024 honorees

Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/3/24 – The 35th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival is scheduled to be held physically from January 4 – 15, 2024. The Film Awards will kick off the festival on Thursday, January 4.

The most buzzed-about names on the awards trail come to experience the unrivaled Palm Springs hospitality that creates an intimate event far removed from the frenzy of other awards shows. Here, Hollywood heavyweights settle in to share war stories, old friendships are rekindled, and new professional relationships are born over gourmet food and cocktails. It’s a true testament to the Film Awards charm that so many A-listers return year after year!

The list of this year’s honorees reads like a Who’s Who of Hollywood’s best.

Executive Producer Leonardo DiCaprio and Gotham Award nominee Lily Gladstone in Killers of the Flower Moon

“Killers of the Flower Moon” is the recipient of the Vanguard Award. The Vanguard Award is a group honor distinguishing a film’s cast and director in recognition of their collective work on an exceptional film project. The award will be presented to Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese, Academy Award winner and Executive Producer Leonardo DiCaprio and Gotham Award nominee Lily Gladstone, all of whom will be in attendance.

Cillian Murphy

Emma Stone is the recipient of the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress, for Searchlight Pictures’ “Poor Things.”  Cillian Murphy is the recipient of the Desert Palm Achievement  Award, Actor, for his as physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher  Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.”

Da’Vine Joy Randolph is the recipient of the Breakthrough  Performance Award, for “The Holdovers.” Greta Gerwig is the recipient of the Director of the Year Award for her critically acclaimed, record-breaking “Barbie.” Jeffrey Wright is the recipient of the Career Achievement Award, for his performance in Cord Jefferson’s “American Fiction.”

Carey Mulligan is the recipient of the International Star Award, Actress, for her performance in Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro”. Colman Domingo is the recipient of the Spotlight Award, Actor for  his performance in “Rustin.”  Danielle Brooks is the recipient of the Spotlight Award, Actress for her performance in “The Color Purple.”

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell are the recipients of the Chairman’s Award for their critically acclaimed song “What Was I Made For?” from Greta Gerwig’s acclaimed, record-breaking film “Barbie.” The song has been nominated for five GRAMMY® Awards and received Best Original Song Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards nominations.

Paul Giamatti

Paul Giamatti is the recipient of the Icon Award for “The Holdovers.”  Past winners of the Icon Award include  Glenn Close, Willem Dafoe, Michael Douglas, Robert Duvall, Lady Gaga, Tom Hanks and  Meryl Streep. In their respective years, Glenn Close, Willem Dafoe, Robert Duvall and Meryl Streep were each nominated for an Academy Award.

The Film Awards will take place at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 15, 2024. The event will be sponsored by Entertainment Tonight and IHG Hotels & Resorts. Passes are still available for the festival and can be purchased online at https://passes.psfilmfest.org/.
