Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 4/25/23 – On Sunday, April 23, PBS SoCal and KCET hosted a special screening celebrating season two of LA FRONTERA WITH PATI JINICH featuring chef and host Pati Jinich. The event took place at LA Plaza De Cultura Y Artes in Downtown Los Angeles where close to 200 guests enjoyed a discussion with Pati Jinich and LA Times’ Food Editor Daniel Hernandez
Prior to the screening, guests enjoyed an outdoor reception and celebrated the evening with handcrafted tamarindo margaritas and bottled sodas from Gran Centenario and Jarritos, as well as individually made jackfruit and carne asada tacos from Trejos Tacos. As guests settled into their seats, LA Plaza’s Chief Executive Officer Leticia Rhi Buckley kicked off night with a warm welcome and PBS SoCal’s Chief Creative Officer Tamara Gould introduced chef and host of LA FRONTERA, Pati Jinich, who prefaced the program and the conversation with Hernandez following the screening.
Emmy®-nominated Chef Pati Jinich is back for a sophomore season of the PBS show La Frontera! Pati concluded her journey traveling the border of Texas and Mexico and is now heading west to experience the melding of cultures between San Diego and Baja California and uncover untold stories from borderland communities affected by the years-long division.
With many stories of hope, expansion, and diversity, La Frontera showcases what the combining of different cultures looks like as well as the impact of this union through food, entertainment and travel.
Our conversation with Pati Jinich:
Pati Jinich shared with THT, “I am so excited for the second season of La Frontera! I was already thrilled when we jumped into Frontera 1 exploring the US-Mexico borderlands as well as the eastern side of the borderlands. In season 2 we go all the way from San Diego and Tijuana, passing through Arizona and getting to New Mexico until we get to El Paso again. It’s 3 hours of just jaw-dropping and really inspiring stories, people, and content. It’s been a fabulous journey.”
This fabulous DTLA event kicked off with a 6pm reception featuring tacos from Trejos Tacos and to compliment Danny’s Jackfruit or carne asada tacos was a Tequila tasting and margaritas courtesy of Gran Centenario and beverages donated by Jarritos.
La Frontera will do more than cover the finest eats whilst traversing through Mexican states of Baja California, Sonoro, and Chihuahua. Pati Jinich will also host brilliant and timely conversations such as how these border communities are impacted by political status quo like climate change and civil rights issues as it pertains to LGBTQ+ rights.
