Actor Thaao Penghlis will sign his new cookbook Seducing Celebrities One Meal at a Time at Barnes and Noble at The Grove on Wednesday, May 22 at 7 pm. Barnes and Noble located at 189 The Grove Dr Los Angeles, CA 90036
It’s one of the greatest runs in television. During his more than four-decade run on Days of Our Lives, Thaao Penghlis has kept the plots twisting and the passions burning by playing two look-a-like villains, Count Tony DiMera and his impersonator Andre DiMera. He also starred in the primetime television series Mission Impossible, as well as on General Hospital.
But the Australian-born star is much more than a guy who knows how to deliver a nasty line and take a woman’s slap. A world traveler and celebrated host of Hollywood dinner parties, Penghlis has authored the cookbook Seducing Celebrities One Meal at a Time.
Seducing Celebrities One Meal at a Time, which was reissued by Bricktower Publishing this spring, presents recipes for what would be Penghlis’ dream Hollywood dinner parties. “With all the celebrities that crossed my path, I asked myself; How would I embrace and seduce them with food?” he says. “Through my imagination and experiences, I have put together recipes that would resonate with these wonderful talents.”
While the cookbook imagines the perfect meals for the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and George Clooney, Penghlis’ real-life dinner parties in his Hollywood Hills home are legendary. After one evening, actress Doris Roberts sent him a gushing note: “The table is so beautiful that you hate to sit down to mess it up.”
This child of Greek immigrants is also now pouring his own passions for all things Greece into a new podcast, “Thaao Penghlis’ Lost Treasures,” a thrilling detective story-style exploration of Greece’s greatest contribution to the world’s literature, the poet Homer. “These materials took me to magnificent sites in Athens, Mycenae and Troy where Schliemann’s extraordinary finds changed the course of history and smashed the myths of ancient Greek heroes,” says Penghlis.
