Panel to Discuss How Entertainment Industry Creators Can
Focus on Issues in Health Equity for Women of Color Through
Television Programming
WHAT: The Television Academy Foundation and Hollywood, Health & Society present panel discussion ‘The Power of TV: Reshaping Breast Cancer Narratives.’ The free, open-to-the-public event will assemble television storytellers and a CDC medical expert to discuss the disparities in health care services that exist in access, prevention and treatment for people of color and how television programs can inspire young women to take action for their health through program storylines.
WHO: Panelists include:
● Krista Vernoff, executive producer of Grey’s Anatomy.
● Kristi Korzec, co-executive producer and writer on Superman &
Lois.
● Alena Smith, creator of Dickinson on Apple TV+.
● Dr. Lisa C. Richardson, M.D., M.P.H., director, CDC’s Division of
Cancer Prevention and Control.
● Moderator: Carri Twigg, co-founder and head of development for
Culture House production company.
