“This year, we not only commemorate our 10th Festival but also the 25th Anniversary of the Turner Classic Movies network, which launched April 14, 1994. Whether this is your first time with us or your 10th, we’re honored and grateful that you are here for this exiting milestone.”
There is also a new venue this year at the festival The Legion Theater at Post 43. This theater is the only theater in Hollywood owned and operated by veterans. The theater is located at 2035 N. Highland Avenue. This spectacularly renovated historic theater has always been an integral part of Hollywood Post 43 of the American Legion, chartered in 1919 by World War I veterans who worked in the motion picture business. Some of the films being shown during TCM Classic Film Festival are Buck Privates (1941) starring Abbott & Costello; Cold Turkey (1971) starring Dick Van Dyke, Jean Stapleton and Paul Benedict; High Society (1956) starring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra and The Little Colonel (1935) starring Shirley Temple and Bill Bojangles Robinson to name a few of the films.
Hand and footprint ceremony honoring Billy Crystal on Friday morning, Club TCM Exhibits, including items from the upcoming Bonhams aution TCM Presents..Wonders of the Galaxy: Science Fiction and Fantasy in Film.
The Auction will be held in L.A. on May 14th and includes a Darth Vadar costume from Star Wars: Episode V-The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and a marble bust of the Lawgiver from the Plant of the Apes (1968).
There is so much to see and do and who can resist those classic films that will be shown at TCL Chinese Theater IMAX; Egyptian Theater, The Chinese Multiplex, The Arclight Cinerama Dome and newest venue The Legion Theater at Post 43.
