05/16/2019 – Any rock and roll band worth their salt can easily crank out a decent set of covers. Nine times out of ten, it’s primarily about a dozen or more songs you’ve heard at least five times a day on the radio. From a musician/fan standpoint, you can only hear Smells Like Teen Spirit or Smoke On The Water played so many “different” times until you’re blue in the face. Being selective with covers is the name of the game, and Handsome Young Ladies are definitely on top of that.
Hailing from Rochester, New York, power trio Handsome Young Ladies are about to prove that even hits from Sade and Earth, Wind & Fire can be replicated with an edge. Their newest covers album, We Got It Covered is being released on May 17th with 11 deliciously palatable versions of favorites dating back from the past 40 years. Having decades of experience in the covers department, Handsome Young Ladies displays a unique style that takes the song of choice to an entirely different level, but also to a place oozing with pure nostalgic value. Revamped hits like September by the aforementioned Earth, Wind & Fire, and Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time are chock full of guitar driven modern groove, while also keeping the energy and emotion of the lyrics fully intact.
With vocals and guitar by Sam Swanson (Midwest Blue, Dormlife and Boomjuice), bass by Anthony Carvalho (Red Letter Statement and Praxia) and producer Jesse Sprinkle (Demon Hunter, Dead Poetic and Bluebrick Recordings) on drums, this power unit definitely knows what the people want to hear, rather than have their audience settle for the same cookie cutter versions of overplayed hits from cover bands the world over.
Mixed by both Jesse and his brother, Aaron Sprinkle (New Found Glory, Story Of The Year), We Got It Covered will be available worldwide on May 17th through the band’s very own label, Alarm Clock Revolution.

Handsome Young Ladies is western New York’s wildly classy cover outfit. Imagine the rhythm section of Nirvana fronted by Elvis Costello playing cover songs. Anchored out of Rochester NY, H.Y.L. is a power trio with decades of experience in both the regional and national musicscenes as well as the recording industry. Specializing in festivals, clubs, bars, and private events including weddings, birthdays, and corporate parties. H.Y.L. brings your favorite multi-genre hits of the last 40+ years to life. Fronted by Chicago import Sam Swanson (of Midwest Blue, Dormlife, and Boomjuice) leading the band on both guitar and vocals. Filling in behind him is local musician Anthony Carvalho (of Red Letter Statement and Praxia) backing him on the bass. Rounding out the trio playing drums and doing back up vocals is studio producer Jesse Sprinkle (of Poor Old Lu, Demon Hunter, Dead Poetic, and Bluebrick Recordings).
