Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/11/25 – Since her untimely passing in 1962, Marilyn Monroe’s impact continues to reign on in the world of fashion, film, and beyond. One of America’s most historic and influential figures, Monroe’s lasting impact has been felt beyond the realms of Hollywood as her image and quotes have often been seen across the world through merchandise and online social media channels. In addition to her global popularity in pop culture history, Monroe’s iconic image, mystic, and lasting legacy remain strong and highly influential in the areas of fashion, style, and beauty.

Released in October of last year, best-selling author Terry Newman gives us, “Marilyn Monroe Style” (published by ACC Art Books), which takes an exclusive look inside Monroe’s fashion sense both on and off screen. In collaboration with the official Estate of Marilyn Monroe, the beautifully designed book featuring a rose gold color palette showcases gorgeous photos of Monroe in her prime wearing some of her most iconic wardrobe in addition to her simplistic fashion sense off screen. With more than 20 years working in the fashion industry as a writer and editor, author Terry Newman (UK based) narrates Monroe’s various wardrobe looks with much detail and behind the scenes facts that correspond to them. Newman also takes readers through various eras of Monroe’s life beginning with her formative years and time as a model during the 1940’s. As the book progresses, readers will also enjoy the stunning photos of Monroe in her most glamorous fashion from films “Niagra,” “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” “The Seven Year Itch,” “Some Like It Hot,” and “The Misfits.”

Newman does an amazing job at giving such descriptive backstories to each film and Monroe’s working relationships with her stylists, makeup artists, and designers. Specific topics pertaining to Monroe’s wardrobe picks are also carefully outlined in categories throughout the book including swimwear, sweaters, day dresses, coats, wraps & furs, suits, evening wear, and accessories. Newman also dives into “Marilyn And The Designer’s She Wore” speaking on the talented and eclectic designers and couture houses that had the honor to dress the actress. Some of those include American fashion designer Norman Norell, who designed her wedding dress to Arthur Miller in 1956, Dior, Italian shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo, and Emilio Pucci. Fans and readers alike will also thoroughly enjoy the chapters “Marilyn And the Designer’s She Influenced,” and “Marilyn And The Celebrities She Influenced,” which speaks of Monroe’s influence on celebrity fashion culture.

For those interested in fashion, classic film, and history, the book is an entertaining and insightful read capturing and celebrating the essence of Marilyn Monroe in her most glamorous way.
