Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.
The Queen has died, long live the King.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” Buckingham Palace announced in an official statement on Thursday.
Her death follows her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, who died at age 99 in June 2021 – The Love Story Continues in Heaven!
Prime Minister Liz Truss said the Queen was the rock on which modern Britain was built, and the new King would be known as King Charles III.
King Charles, who becomes head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms, released a statement:
“The death of my beloved mother Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.”
A family has lost a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and their Queen for the past 70 years. The only Queen that most of the people of the world has known. A woman’s role as Queen is now passed to a man, His Majesty, King Charles III.
The loss will be most profound for her large family, including her four children, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
One of the most enduring figures in modern history, her time on the throne spanned 14 U.S. presidencies and 15 British Prime Ministers, the most recent appointed by the Queen on Tuesday, September 6. In April 2016, she celebrated her milestone 90th birthday, a landmark occasion that followed worldwide celebrations of her record-breaking reign on September 9, 2015. Upon the announcement, Prince Charles, the former Prince of Wales, has immediately become king. His title will be passed down to his son Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. However, Charles won’t be officially named until Friday — one day after the death of the monarch. [Source: Yahoo]

It is such a sad day to have heard about the passing of the Queen. Seeing a rainbow against the blue sky on live TV shows hope for the those that knew her as their Queen. It was a pleasure to be able to watch the Platinum Jubilee celebrations on TV. Sure wish I would have been there in person. I have spent my life watching her on TV with my dear mother, who adored her. I will be streaming all day long to see all media coverage about her life, history of duty of this remarkable woman and how she will be remembered.
