New York, New York – Wednesday, January 22, 2025 – GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, today announced the nominees of the 36th GLAAD Media Awards. In a time of unprecedented challenges for LGBTQ people, LGBTQ stories are the antidote to anti-LGBTQ violence, legislation and disinformation.

GLAAD’s mission to accelerate acceptance and understanding for LGBTQ people through visibility in media stands stronger than ever, with the 36th GLAAD Media Awards spotlighting 303 culture-changing nominees across 33 categories, honoring outstanding fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues in film, television, gaming, publishing, stage productions, music, podcasting, journalism, and more.

Since 1990, the GLAAD Media Awards have grown to be the most visible annual LGBTQ awards show in the world, sending powerful messages of acceptance to audiences globally. Nominees for the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards reflect work published, released, or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

GLAAD routinely reviews the accuracy and impact of GLAAD Media Awards categories to best reflect the ever-evolving media landscape, including the ways in which media is consumed by audiences and consumers alike. As such, and in recognition of the profusion of news sources in the overall media landscape, this year, GLAAD celebrates the category of Outstanding Blog being updated to Outstanding Independent Journalism. This expanded category will recognize creators and independent news organizations that drive journalism and commentary for and about LGBTQ people and issues.

A tip sheet with a breakdown of nominations by media and trends among the nominees is available HERE and at: www.glaad.org/releases.

Statement by GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis:

“The GLAAD Media Awards were created nearly four decades ago to champion LGBTQ stories amid a deeply hostile and unsafe time for our community. Today, this mission holds true and ever-more important as attacks against LGBTQ people are not only growing, but finding new avenues. Whether it’s rampant misinformation or defamation of transgender people, LGBTQ youth, or the shocking corporate rollback of policies and programs that keep LGBTQ people seen and safe in a workforce, what will always prevail is our truth and talent. This year’s nominees for the 36th GLAAD Media Awards represent the best of our vibrant community, spanning across all media, genres and mediums, and send a loud and global message to industry leaders that our stories are not only popular and entertaining, but necessary and culture-changing.”

Spotlighting the strength, resilience and ingenuity of the LGBTQ community, GLAAD has chosen six projects to receive this honor for the 36th GLAAD Media Awards.

For their immeasurable impact and contributions to LGBTQ acceptance and visibility, GLAAD has awarded the Special Recognition honor to: “DRAG: The Musical,” “La Verdrag” (Canal Once), OUTLOUD, “Red Ink: A Tribute to Cecilia Gentili,” The Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center, “The Q Agenda” (LatiNation), and WNBA 2024 Champions: The New York Liberty.

GLAAD’s Barbara Gittings Award for Excellence in LGBTQ Media honors a pioneering individual, group, or community media outlet that has made a significant contribution to the development of LGBTQ media. The award is named after Barbara Gittings in recognition of her groundbreaking work as editor of The Ladder, and for her appearances as an out lesbian on national news media throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – January 22, 2025 – iHeartMedia and FOX Entertainment today announced the nominees for the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, that 13-time Grammy Award, Academy Award and Golden Globe Award winning artist Lady Gaga will be honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Innovator Award and Mariah Carey, the elusive chanteuse and best-selling female artist of all time, will be honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Icon Award.  The annual event airs LIVE from Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Monday, March 17 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET live / PT tape-delayed) on FOX. The event also will be heard on iHeartRadio stations nationwide and on the iHeartRadio app.

The 12th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards will celebrate the most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations and the iHeartRadio app throughout 2024, while also offering a preview of the upcoming hits of 2025. The show will feature award presentations in multiple categories, live performances from the biggest artists in music, surprise guests and collaborations and will showcase the stories of the winning artists’ road to #1.

This year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards will also pay tribute to the resiliency and rebuilding of Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires affecting the entire community and will drive donations to Fireaidla.org. Contributions made to FireAid will be distributed under the advisement of the Annenberg Foundation, for short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters. The Annenberg Foundation, with decades of philanthropic leadership in the community, including rapid response, will help coordinate a team to direct funds for the greatest impact.

“Our iHeartRadio Music Awards show is not a competition, it’s a night where we honor the incredible artists and songs that fans loved all year long – and this year’s show will shine a light on the devastating tragedy that impacted Los Angeles and enable us to deliver on our commitment to the communities we serve,” said John Sykes, President of Entertainment Enterprises and Tom Poleman, Chief Programming Officer of iHeartMedia. “Our long-standing partnership with FOX will not only bring this celebration into millions of television homes, it will also bring important awareness of how to help those in need.”

Each year the iHeartRadio Innovator Award is presented to an artist who has impacted both music and global culture throughout their career, and this year’s recipient is Lady Gaga. Few artists in modern history have taken creative risks with the level of success of Gaga. One of the best-selling musicians of all time, she is the true definition of a modern-day artist innovator. Gaga has created music that topped the charts for years at multiple formats, while architecting groundbreaking tours and delivering powerful and versatile performances in film and TV. Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/21/25 – At this year’s NAMM Show, Jim Tierney and his company, Digital Anarchy, are making waves with their innovative suite of creative tools that empower artists, filmmakers, and content creators. Digital Anarchy, known for its cutting-edge software solutions, is once again at the forefront of the digital creative space, showcasing new technologies designed to enhance visual storytelling and streamline post-production workflows.

Jim Tierney, the visionary behind Digital Anarchy, has always been passionate about making powerful tools that are both accessible and intuitive. This year at NAMM, the company is unveiling exciting updates to its popular suite of products, including the beloved “Beauty Box” plugin, which helps users effortlessly enhance skin tones and textures in their video projects. With a keen focus on making complex tasks easier, Digital Anarchy’s tools have become indispensable for professionals in the media industry, from filmmakers to visual artists.

Click below for our exclusive interview:

During our interview Tierney spoke about the Role of AI in Professional Video Production:
“Our challenge with doing professional software is finding ways to use AI that consistently save time. If it works 30 percent of the time, that’s fine for TikTok, but not for a television series, feature film, or music video—you need the software to do what you want it to do.”

Jim also spoke to us on Digital Anarchy’s Approach to Innovation:
“We hope this allows us to better understand what musicians want from video so we can tailor future products to the music industry—because everybody’s shooting video, whether it’s for YouTube or a music video, and that’s where we come in.”

In addition to showcasing their latest innovations, Digital Anarchy’s presence at NAMM also reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to fostering creativity and collaboration. Jim Tierney and his team are eager to engage with fellow creators, discussing how Digital Anarchy’s tools are shaping the future of visual arts.

As NAMM attendees get hands-on experience with Digital Anarchy’s products, it’s clear that Jim Tierney’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of creativity and technology is more alive than ever. Whether it’s through advanced visual effects, seamless integration, or innovative plugins, Digital Anarchy continues to inspire and empower creators across the globe.

At NAMM 2025, Digital Anarchy is reminding us all that the future of digital artistry is brighter—and more accessible—than ever before.

Cassandra Sotos and AmpRx Unveil “BROWNIE”: A Game-Changing Voltage Controller at NAMM

Cassandra Sotos and AmpRx Unveil “BROWNIE”: A Game-Changing Voltage Controller at NAMM

By Valerie Milano

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/20/25 – The NAMM Show, known for being the global stage for music, sound, and event technology, witnessed a groundbreaking moment as Cassandra Sotos joined AmpRx to unveil their latest innovation, “BROWNIE.” This cutting-edge voltage controller for modern amps is designed to revolutionize the way musicians interact with their equipment, ensuring optimal performance in a variety of settings.

Cat’s out of the BrownBox! @clarksingletonbass and I are the new owners of AmpRx (@amp.rx)

A Vision for Modern Amps

Cassandra Sotos, a celebrated musician and AmpRx collaborator, played a pivotal role in the unveiling of “BROWNIE” at NAMM. Known for her expertise and passion for music technology, Sotos emphasized the importance of precision in amp performance. She  “BROWNIE is a solution for musicians who demand reliability and clarity from their equipment,” she explained during the launch.

The Innovation Behind “BROWNIE”

At its core, “BROWNIE” addresses the common challenges musicians face with inconsistent voltage levels, which can negatively impact the performance and lifespan of amplifiers. The device ensures consistent power delivery, safeguarding equipment and enhancing tonal stability.

Unlike traditional voltage regulators, “BROWNIE” is tailored specifically for the nuanced needs of modern musicians, offering compatibility across a wide range of amp models. Cassandra Sotos emphasized the importance of this innovation, explaining, “We take electricity for granted—it’s on or off—but it has qualities that impact the way your amplifier sounds and feels. Optimizing that is the heart of what we do.”

The device’s inspiration came directly from feedback gathered at last year’s NAMM show, where Cassandra met musicians looking for a solution beyond vintage amps. She noted, “A lot of people asked for something smaller, designed for modern amps, with more functionality to achieve the correct voltage.” With “BROWNIE,” AmpRx delivers a solution that protects amplifiers while offering a more reliable, emotionally resonant playing experience. Musicians can now perform with confidence, knowing their sound will remain consistent night after night.

Check out the fresh video of our interview with Cassandra Sotos here:

Why NAMM?

The NAMM Show’s reputation as a hub for innovation made it the perfect venue for this unveiling. “NAMM is where the industry converges to share ideas and push boundaries,” Sotos remarked. “It’s the ideal platform to showcase how ‘BROWNIE’ can redefine amp technology.” Attendees had the opportunity to experience live demonstrations, gaining insight into how the device performs in real-world scenarios.

A Musician’s Perspective

As a seasoned violinist and a touring musician, Cassandra Sotos brings a unique perspective to AmpRx’s development process. Her involvement ensures that the needs of professional musicians are front and center. “Having dealt with inconsistent power during live performances, I’m thrilled to be part of a product that solves this issue with such elegance,” she shared.

What’s Next for AmpRx?

The launch of “BROWNIE” is just the beginning. AmpRx aims to continue innovating, building on the success of their latest product to address other challenges in the music equipment space. Feedback from NAMM attendees will play a crucial role in shaping the company’s next steps.

A Bright Future for Musicians

With “BROWNIE,” AmpRx has set a new standard for amp technology, and Cassandra Sotos has cemented her place as a driving force behind this innovation. Together, they are empowering musicians to focus on their craft, free from the technical uncertainties that can hinder creativity.

NFL PLAYOFFS RECAP: DIVISIONAL ROUND

NFL PLAYOFFS RECAP: DIVISIONAL ROUND

By Lucas Camacho

Welcome to the Divisional Round! Going into this weekend, only 8 NFL teams were left standing. By Sunday night, only 4 remain. It was an exciting weekend that featured one of the biggest upsets we’ve seen in a long time. Let’s have a look at each game, what the defeated teams can do in the offseason, and what the teams advancing can do to get to the Super Bowl.

RAMS 22 – EAGLES 28

The hopes for the local fans here in Los Angeles were dashed this weekend. They’ll have to settle for just the Dodgers and the Galaxy hoisting championship trophies for the time being as the Rams fell in a snow-covered matchup with the mighty Eagles. Jalen Hurts, who has led the Eagles to turn things around after last year’s disastrous season, completed 15 of 20 passes for 128 yards, and he rushed it himself 7 times for 70 yards and a touchdown. On the other side, Matthew Stafford completed only 26 of 44 passes for 324 yards and 2 touchdowns. In the end, the fumbles doomed the Rams, as well as another monster game from Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Eagles now look to the NFC Championship, where they’ll have to go toe-to-toe once again with the Commanders led by Rookie of the Year favorite Jayden Daniels.

This will be a painful offseason for the Rams. To come so close and yet fall so far from the Super Bowl. In a city like Los Angeles, the pressure is always on to bring home a championship. Obviously, the defense has made great gains, but not nearly enough as shown by how Barkley shredded them (again as he did during their regular season meeting, too). Also, the offensive line is going to be a priority to protect the quarterback. Notice I didn’t say Stafford there…that’s because he said at the end of the game that he was going to take some time to decide his future. That’s not what you want to hear for a team that doesn’t have a clear answer as to who will eventually replace Stafford. Whether he stays or retires, this is a question the Rams will have in the backs of their minds, as well as dealing with an aging Cooper Kupp.

As for the Eagles, things have never been better. They managed to stop a team that was just as hot, if not hotter, going into this postseason. Now comes the NFC Championship game with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line. They’ll have to go up against the Commanders again for the third time. Both teams have won once, so this will be the rubber match. They know how to beat this team, but the Commanders know how to beat them, too. They need Barkley to keep producing and they need to stop Jayden Daniels in his tracks. If they can pull that off, the Eagles are Super Bowl-bound.

TEXANS 14 – CHIEFS 23

The Chiefs have to be the luckiest team in the NFL, and I don’t mean that in a biased or good way. In a game where the Texans had more yards, more first downs, and more time of possession…the Chiefs still won. CJ Stroud, last year’s Rookie of the Year, actually outdueled Patrick Mahomes throwing for 245 compared to only 177 from Mahomes (although Mahomes had a touchdown pass while Stroud had none). There is no other explanation other than the Chiefs are just too lucky, but can that luck hold up when the Bills come rolling into town.

So, what can the Texans do in the offseason? This should be obvious: they need more receivers. Stefon Diggs went down early, and then Tank Dell went down (and might miss next season). Right now, the Texans hold the number 25 pick, so they could get a receiver, or hope that they can re-sign Diggs. The offensive line could also use some reinforcement as Stroud felt pressure on 35.8% of his drop backs (in layman’s terms, that’s too much). They need to take the pressure off of Stroud and give Joe Mixon more room to run, which is why he wasn’t as effective down the stretch this season. This team really should have been better, and it will when they fix the offensive line and get reinforcements for their receiving corps.

As for the Chiefs, evidently luck hasn’t run out yet. I will say this, Taylor Swift’s boy toy, Travis Kelce, saved the day for his team. Kelce caught it 7 times for 117 yards and a touchdown. Despite what the headlines read; the Chiefs DID NOT roll to this victory. The special teams are the real heroes of this game, especially when they blocked a Texans field goal attempt that would have made the game much more interesting. That may not fly next week when they host the AFC championship game against the same Bills team that ended their perfect season.

COMMANDERS 45 – LIONS 31

HOLY MOLE HOLES! In the biggest upset so far of these playoffs, the Commanders, led by Rookie of the Year favorite Jayden Daniels, took down the heavy favorite Lions to set up a rematch against the Eagles. Daniels was nearly perfect as he completed 22 of 31 passes for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns while also rushing for 51 yards. As for the Lions, this was a game Jared Goff would like to forget. Though Goff threw for more yards than Daniels with 313, he completed only 23 of his 40 passes for a touchdown and 3 interceptions. This will be a long offseason for the Lions while the Commanders prepare to face the Eagles for the third time this season.

The Lions have an interesting offseason ahead of them. They have a great team, but defensive depth looks a little thin. Losing Aidan Hutchinson for the year ultimately doomed them and their pass rush, but I seriously doubt that would have made a difference against a nearly blitz proof quarterback like Daniels. Now the real reason that their offseason will be interesting is that their offensive and defensive coordinators are being eyed as head coach candidates. Both men have drawn interest from other teams, including DA RAIDERS and the Bears (it would certainly be devastating to lose either of their coordinators to their division rival). If they leave, they’ll leave pretty big shoes behind to fill, and coach Dan Campbell may do more crying.

As for the Commanders, they’ve slayed the dragon. They’ve accomplished more than anyone could have dared to dream. Now they have to play the Eagles yet again. This will be the third time they’ve played each other. The Eagles easily won the first matchup 26-18, but then the Commanders tied it up with a 36-33 victory in the stretch run of the regular season. Obviously, as seen from their game against the Rams, Saquon Barkley is an absolute monster. Letting him or Jalen Hurts run to their heart’s delight will doom the Commanders. They need Jayden Daniels to keep producing like he has all season. They’ve conquered one titan of the NFC, now they’ll need to keep it together to take down another.

RAVENS 25 – BILLS 27

This was the most entertaining game of the weekend, and it may also decide the Super Bowl. In the end of this frozen game, a dropped pass by Ravens tight end Mark Andrews decided the game, and the Bills hung on to force a rematch with the Chiefs. Josh Allen didn’t have the best of games, completing 16 of 22 passes for 127 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. On the other side, Lamar Jackson tried his best for the Ravens completing 18 of 25 passes for 254 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. The Bills will now try to exercise some of their playoff demons as they once again go toe-to-toe with the defending champs.

The Ravens go into another disappointing offseason. So what do they do? Well, the Ravens are a complete team with very few weaknesses. They also don’t have much wiggle room with an estimated $2 million cap space. Although, stars like Mark Andrews and Justin Tucker are showing their age. Then there’s the issue of their left tackle Ronnie Stanley hitting free agency. He may be great, but the Ravens may elect to go younger as they hold the number 27 pick in the draft. Whether they add a safety or another tackle or whatever, the Ravens have to be wondering what could they possibly do to finally get over the hump. Like I said, it’s another disappointing offseason for the Ravens as they desperately search for how they can win a Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson nearing his prime.

As for the Bills, they’re the best team left standing (although the Eagles are a very close second). That’s why they SHOULD win against the Chiefs; they’re just the better team. They’ve already beaten the Chiefs convincingly during Week 11 earlier in the season. Of course they have two things going against them: history and luck. The Bills have NEVER beaten Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs no matter how good the Bills have been. The Chiefs also have the benefit of some kind of dumb luck that has allowed them to hold the honor of being the WORST number one seeded team in recent NFL history. It should be pretty simple: shut down the Chiefs’ primary weapons and let Josh Allen be Josh Allen. If the Bills can do that, they are one step closer to achieving something that the Bills of the 90’s failed to do in four straight (and painful) seasons: win the Super Bowl.

Is NAD the Fountain of Youth? Exploring the Benefits of This Trending Supplement

Is NAD the Fountain of Youth? Exploring the Benefits of This Trending Supplement

By Tequila Mockingbird

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/21/25 – Doctors often recommend various vitamins and supplements—calcium for strong bones, vitamin D for immune support—but one emerging supplement, NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), has been making waves for its potential anti-aging properties. Dubbed by some as “the fountain of youth,” NAD supplements are gaining popularity, and here’s why.

What is NAD?

NAD is a coenzyme found in every cell of the human body, essential for energy production, DNA repair, cellular communication, and immune function. However, NAD levels naturally decline with age, a process linked to various age-related conditions, including:

  • Neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s)
  • Metabolic disorders (Type 2 diabetes)
  • Cardiovascular issues
  • Cognitive decline and muscle weakness

Why Consider NAD Supplements?

Research suggests that supplementing with NAD or its precursors, such as NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) or NR (Nicotinamide Riboside), might help combat this decline. Potential benefits include:

  • Boosted Energy: Enhanced cellular energy production.
  • Sharper Brain Function: Improved memory, focus, and cognitive performance.
  • Anti-Aging: Slowed cellular aging and improved overall vitality.
  • Muscle and Heart Health: Better muscle function and cardiovascular support.
  • Immune System Support: Enhanced defense mechanisms.

Does It Work?

While scientific studies continue to explore the full range of NAD’s benefits, many users—including myself—report noticeable improvements in mental clarity and energy levels. After incorporating NAD into my routine, my brain feels sharper than it has in years.

Proceed with Caution

  • Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting NAD supplements.
  • Be aware of potential interactions with medications.
  • Results may vary depending on individual health and lifestyle.

Is It Worth a Try?

If you’re looking to enhance your energy, support brain function, or counteract aging, NAD supplements might be worth exploring. As with any health product, personal experiences may vary, but it’s certainly an intriguing addition to the wellness conversation.

Will NAD work for you? There’s only one way to find out!
