Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 11/3/21 – Comedy Wednesdays in Palm Springs is now officially a “thing.” Oscar’s Downtown Palm Springs started it not long ago, and the crowds are increasing with each event.
Tonight, Max Mitchell, Bruce Vilanch, and Poppy Champlin took the stage to bring audiences some world class laughs.
And the fun doesn’t end there. Priscilla Presley is in the future lineup, as well as Lonnie Anderson. Angie Dickinson will be featured at Oscar’s next week.
Mitchell spoke to THT about the special Pride event, after the show.
“It was great! Poppy was here last July, that’s why we had her back,” said Mitchell. “And she blew the house away.” Mitchell added that the show was an unquestionable success. “It went really well tonight, the audience seemed to love it.”
He said starting up the comedy events was simple. “Last spring, I went to the owner of Oscar’s, and I said ‘Do you wanna do a comedy show?’ And he said ‘yes!’ And it was just like that,” said Mitchell.
Mitchell said they began booking the shows regularly; but they wanted to make sure that their talent represented a diverse background of comedians.
“So we started booking, as we do the last Wednesday of every month,” he added. “We do have a very diverse group of comedians, meaning some gay, some straight, some trans, we’re trying to be as inclusive as we can,” he continued. “And Palm Springs audiences are the best! They love, love, love the comedy shows, and it seems like we’re growing and getting better every week!
The Hollywood Times can confirm that the events are steadily growing. And each show is as unique as it is hilarious and delightful. We’ll be here as it undoubtedly grows even more.
