Top 10 Week of July 25: ‘The Gray Man’ and ‘Virgin River’ Stay Atop the Film and TV Lists
Audiences couldn’t get enough of the pulse-pounding action in The Gray Man, which was the most-watched title this week with 96.47 hours viewed. Starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, the film captured the Top 10 in 93 countries. Fans might have also caught a few Easter eggs, including Skittles, German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer and the Netflix documentary Don’t F**k with Cats.
Purple Hearts made romance fans collectively swoon, entering the list week in the second spot with 48.23M hours viewed. Starring Sofia Carson and Nicholas Galitzine, the film follows a pair who agree to marry solely for military benefits despite their many differences. The Sea Beast continued to take fans on an animated maritime adventure with an additional 21.07M hours viewed in its fourth week. Romance and action were the genres of choice for the rest of the list with Persuasion garnering 11.07M hours, The Man From Toronto pulling in 7.62M hours and Red Notice re-entering the list this week with 4.09M hours viewed in the tenth spot.
The shocking cliffhangers and romantic twists of Season 4 of Virgin River kept fans coming back for more, with the small-town drama in its second week dominating the English TV Top 10 with 87.94M hours viewed. Burning questions abound as fans gear up for Season 5, which is in production now. Stranger Things 4 and the Hawkins crew held on strong in the second spot with 57.72M hours viewed. New entrants to the list this week include survivor thriller mini-series Keep Breathing in the #3 spot with 48.09M hours viewed, and documentary series The Most Hated Man on the Internet chronicling one mother’s mission against “revenge porn king” Hunter Moore in the sixth spot with 24.67M hours.
South Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo took the top spot on the non-English TV list with 65.63M hours viewed, while Spanish thriller Alba came in the #2 spot with 33.52M hours viewed. New to the list this week: Turkish romantic drama Another Self with 18.1M hours views and Season 2 of the Mexican teen drama Rebelde with 15.31M hours viewed.
On the non-English Films List, Argentinian crime thriller Recurrence debuted in the top spot with 23.16M hours viewed, appearing in the Top 10 in 79 countries. Following Perdida and Intuition, Luisana Lopilato stars in the final film of this trilogy based on the novels by Florencia Etcheves. The Polish family comedy Too Old For Fairy Tales continued with 11.45M hours viewed in the #2 spot. Elsewhere on the list: Taiwanese horror Incantation, Filipino romantic comedy The Entitled and Indian action-adventure RRR.
