Keanu Reeves, “Star Trek: Picard” top the list of honorees at the 51st Saturn Awards ceremonies Sunday evening in Burbank

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 2/5/24 – Sunday night’s 51st Saturn Awards was bittersweet for Keanu Reeves.

Reeves, who was among the honorees at the L.A. Mariott Burbank, picked up the inaugural Lance Reddick Legacy Award, which is named after Reeves’ late “John Wick” co-star, who died last March from heart disease at age 60.

“Star Trek: Picard” dominated the evening with four awards, including a Best Actor in a Television Series trophy for Sir Patrick Stewart. In all, the “Star Trek” franchise was honored six times Sunday as “Strange New Worlds” and the cast of “The Next Generation” each collected a special award

James Cameron was named Best Director for the sixth time in seven nominations for “Avitar: The Way of Water,” which also took home four awards Sunday.

Actor Carl Weathers, who passed away earlier this week at age 76, was remembered at the event as well. Weathers, best known for his role as Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” films, appeared in “The Mandalorian” as Greef Karga.

Documented as the highest-profile Saturn Awards celebration to date, presenters and winners included Nicolas Cage, Heather Graham, James Cameron, Norman Reedus, Stewart, Ernie Hudson, Henry Thomas, Rebecca De Mornay, Todd Stashwick, Paul Wesley, Lee Majors, Lindsay Wagner, Danai Gurira, Xolo Maridueña, Harvey Guillén among many, many others. All attended the Saturn Awards to not only present but to also support this very special community.

Other notable individual winners included Emily Blunt for Best Supporting Actress in a Film for her role in “Oppenheimer,” and Cage for Best Supporting Actor in a Film for his performance in “Renfield.”

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” won Best Animated Film while “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” collected the trophy for Best Superhero Film.

Hosted for the second year in a row by actor/comedian Joel McHale, star of DC’s “Stargirl? and “Community,” the event was heavily attended by Hollywood stars supporting and contributing to honor the exceptional body of work and talent in these categories of entertainment, most often overlooked by other Award Shows.
