Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 9/1/24 – I had the pleasure of attending Katy Shayne’s debut solo exhibition, “Portals,” on August 30th at Chez Coronado, located at 847 N Coronado Street in Los Angeles, California. Katy Shayne is a contemporary artist renowned for her unique blend of nature, fashion, and surrealism, often infused with metaphysical elements. As an environmental and experimental photographer, she captures the interplay between natural and artificial environments. Raised in rural Texas, Katy draws inspiration from her childhood experiences amid nature and animals.

Katy Shayne’s international accolades stem from her expertise in fashion branding imagery, where she seamlessly integrates commercial aesthetics with fine art. Currently serving as the content director for the LA-based concept space H Lorenzo, she oversees brand campaigns, advertisements, and editorial content.

The photographs featured in the exhibition serve as captivating portals into diverse realms, portraying individuals, landscapes, and open spaces. Each image exudes a deeply personal quality, reminiscent of extracted memories, with every picture telling a unique and compelling story. One particularly striking image that resonated with me depicts a girl in a tranquil landscape, juxtaposed against an expansive view of distant houses. The composition, with the girl facing north, evokes a quiet urgency, suggesting a narrative of escape or pursuit. The show also showcased exquisite floral installations by Mango, adding an extra layer of artistry to the exhibition.

This impressive show will remain open for viewing by appointment only through September 22, 2024. For additional details, please contact the [email protected]
