My Hot Weekend Getaway: OLD TOWN LA QUINTA

By Josie Goldberg

La Quinta, California (The Hollywood Times) – 1/24/2025

With the devastating fires in Southern California, many homes, communities, and neighborhoods have been destroyed to ground zero. It is a tragedy and I’m sorry and have compassion for everyone who is affected. Coming from a family of real estate developers, I was taught to build your real estate portfolio in various locations as you never know what can happen in a neighborhood, particularly in today’s climate.

During my recent getaway to La Quinta, California, I discovered a community where many Angelenos and Snowbirds (Canadians, Midwesterners, Europeans) have second homes. The City of La Quinta has developed into a community where most have their primary residence and still get to feel the vibe of a vacation home year-round. And I realized many evacuees from the wildfires had relocated to the Desert with more people on the way.

Wells And Anna Marvin Developer Of “ Old Town La Quinta”

I discovered the charming Main Street/Old Town La Quinta, Wells Marvin’s development located in the heart of La Quinta. Marvin moved to La Quinta in 1997 with a commitment to create the best of California in craftsmanship and lifestyle. Inspired by international travel and living in Europe, he developed Old Town La Quinta, a community gathering place that embodies romance and ambience.

Only Josie Knows (My personal Experience)

Parking is the first factor that makes a difference for me. If parking is not convenient, my mood immediately shifts in the wrong direction. I was pleased to find free and spacious parking options around Main Street and relaxed. Limited parking really can annoy me, particularly if you’re shopping and you need to keep running to the meter to avoid a pricy ticket. I loved their Certified Farmers Market which is every Sunday at 8 am to 1 pm from October through May 2025. I loved the unique vendor booths, and my highlights include Silly Donkey Tea & Coffee and Athena’s Mediterranean Sweets & Treats. Watch my interview to see what I sampled and other interesting cultural information.

My friends and I had lunch on the patio at RD RNNR Libations Pints & Plates and met the owner Chris Chmielak, the visionary behind this one-of-a-kind culinary destination. I had the most delicious house salad, spicy seared tuna, and Sparkling Rose. Relaxed by our view of the Santa Rosa Mountains, I was ready for a siesta! But there was no time to nap so I boosted my energy with hot chai latte from Main Street Coffee. It was one of best chai lattes, I must say. Not too sweet, but sweet enough it you know what I mean.

I perked up and began shopping at my first stop at Coco Rose Home. I don’t know much about interior design even though I am also a real estate broker, but sales rep Cheryl explained Balinese décor which you may find informative in our interview. I moved on to Coco Rose Beach & Resort Wear and bought a beautiful white “dream catcher”.  The mother-daughter owners, Eileen and Shannon Burke invited me to their Desert home where we relaxed poolside in a beautiful backyard oasis. A drink of Root Beer and the warm sun was just what my body needed on a January day. Eileen and Shannon explained how their fashion pieces are inspired by the Balinese culture and their love to travel to Bali several times a year. They gave me a beautiful, shiny BUDDAH which was a wonderful surprise. The definition of Buddha is “Awakened One” or Enlightened One”. And I’m manifesting that’s going to be me in 2025!

I am “Only Josie Knows” and I RECOMMEND you visit “Old Town La Quinta” as it is only 130 miles from Los Angeles. As a luxury real estate specialist, I see this community prospering and thriving for many years to come. And I will even help you find your dream home!
