The Boutique Art and Design Fair Includes Over 50 Galleries, a Sculpture Garden, Two Special Exhibitions, and a Robust Program of Talks and Events.
Focus on Form: Sculpture Garden provides a spotlight on sculpture at the entry to the Fair, featuring 18 large-scale works by such artists as Stephanie Bachiero (Peter Blake Gallery), Michael DeJong (New Discretions), Andy Dixon (Over the Influence), Tara de la Garza (bG Gallery), Richard Hudson (Michael Goedhuis), Robert Indiana (Galerie Gmurzynska), Dominique Labauvie (Bleu Acier), Robert Raphael (SITUATIONS), Alex Schweder (Edward Cella Art & Architecture), Jesse Small (Nancy Hoffman Gallery), Julian Voss-Andreae (HOHMANN), and Ben Allanoff.

Our hope is to repeat the success we had at Intersect Aspen in 2021, by drawing a dedicated group of collectors and art enthusiasts to the Fair.”
The Fair features two Curated Spaces:
Good Vibrations, organized by Shana Nys Dambrot (Arts Editor, LA Weekly) and Hunter Drohojowska-Philp (Author, Rebels in Paradise: The Los Angeles Art Scene and the 1960s), offers an expanded view of geometric abstraction as it has evolved in Southern California from the 1950s to include the properties of light and the emotional and transcendent uses of color. Lorser Feitelson, Karl Benjamin, John Miller, Peter Lodato, Jim Isermann, Patrick Wilson, Dani Tull, Yunhee Min, Knowledge Bennett, and Jen Stark are among the artists to be included in this multi-generational show.
ZZyzx Redux, curated by Bernard Leibov (Director, BoxoPROJECTS), and presented with support from The Art Collective Fine Art Services, is an exhibition inspired by that remote corner of the Mojave Desert which demonstrates the full cycle of modern Southern Californian desert history: from Indigenous trade route; to gold rush era federal fort; to railroad outpost; to a much hyped health resort; and finally an environmental research station. These cycles have spurred optimism, creative development, and new technologies as well as related aspects of dislocation, exploitation, and environmental damage. The exhibition looks at the sustainability of the current land rush in the local area through artworks both inspired by the attractant qualities of the region (light, space, architecture, nature, lifestyle) and those reminding us where history has taken us before.
The exhibition includes work by artists Blake Baxter, Diane Best, Ryan Campbell, Gerald Clarke Jr., Sofia Enriquez, Kim Manfredi, Carlos Ramirez, Cara Romero, Aili Schmeltz, Ryan Schneider, Phillip K. Smith III, and Kim Stringfellow.
Talks & Events at the Fair include, among many others:
- Friday, February 11 at 12pm: the panel discussion Untethered: Desert Residencies, which compares and contrasts different artist residency programs, especially during the pandemic
- Friday, February 11 at 5pm: a film screening of a documentary about Robert Longo, Film Screening: Present History, directed by Sophie Chahinian;
- Saturday, February 12 at 12pm: the panel discussion Art, Place, Identity: A View from the Desert featuring artists from the special exhibition Zzyzx Redux.

Everyone attending Intersect Palm Springs is required to adhere to the local health and safety guidelines regarding COVID-19. Proof of full vaccination is required for all attendees of Intersect Palm Springs. Full vaccination is defined as having received the minimum required dose(s) of the vaccine two or more weeks prior to the date of attendance. Individuals that are not fully vaccinated must provide a negative COVID-19 test. Negative COVID-19 tests are valid for 48 hours. Therefore, COVID-19 tests presented for admission to the building must include a digital confirmation of the date and time the test was taken.
Additionally, everyone entering the building must wear masks while indoors that properly cover the nose and mouth. Anyone failing to comply with these regulations may be subject to removal from the building without refund of admission or exhibition.
Visitors should refrain from entering the building and attending the fair if they are feeling sick, have COVID-19 symptoms or diagnosis, or have been recently exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Leadership
Intersect is a partnership of brothers Tim and Dirk von Gal, who are event industry veterans with more than 50 years of combined experience creating successful trade shows and conferences for business, consumer, and art industry sectors. The three fairs had been under the umbrella of Tim von Gal’s former company Urban Expositions (founded in 1995), which was acquired by Clarion in 2015. The von Gal brothers’ launch of Intersect in April 2020 brings the fairs back under their management once again. Intersect is part of vGMgt LLC, which is a team of dedicated professionals focused on customer service, integrity, and the experiential value of Intersect Art and Design.
Managing Director Becca Hoffman, who joined Intersect Art and Design in April 2020, was the Director of the Outsider Art Fair from 2013 – 2020, and was formerly the director of Peter Findlay Gallery, and Andrew Edlin Gallery. Hoffman received her B.A. in Fine Art Photography from Dartmouth where she helped start the first student art gallery and worked at the Hood Museum of Art. From there, Hoffman achieved her M.A. in Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s in London.
Intersect Fairs
Intersect Aspen is an annual art and culture event taking place each August in the heart of one of the nation’s most prestigious collector communities. Formerly known as Art Aspen, it has been running since 2010.
Intersect Chicago is the largest of the three fairs, taking place each November at Chicago’s Navy Pier, and focusing on three-dimensional artworks that cross the boundaries of fine art, decorative art, fiber arts, and design. Formerly known as SOFA, it has been running since 1993.
Intersect Palm Springs takes place each February, and presents post-war and contemporary art. Formerly known as Art Palm Springs, it has been running since 2012.
