Beyond Wonderland happened at the Gorge over the weekend, and it…was…worthy of a bizarre Lewis Carroll odyssey.
Over October 1 and 2 in Washington’s The Gorge, the festival lit up with gorgeous ‘Wonderland’ themed decorations, sets, costumes, and more. Campers camped, music lovers danced, and bands jammed.
It proved to be one of the most gorgeously colorful carnivals of imagination we’ve seen in a long time.
Sponsored by Truly Hard Seltzer and Liquid Death, the anticipation was palpable on October 1st as the festival filled with fans.
In line with current safety recommendations, Beyond Wonderland required guests to provide a vaccination record or proof of a negative COVID-19 test for entry, so festival-goers were confident of fun, and safe, experience.
On October 1, some of the most recognizable acts performed across three gorgeous stages: Fractal Valley, a pulsating, mind-blowing experience if there ever was one. Sound waves twirled into the night in patterns set to music. The second stage was the Cheshire Woods, described by the festival as a “surreal woodland.” And finally, the Caterpillar’s Garden hosted musical acts all weekend, as well.
The October 1 lineup featured major acts including The Chainsmokers, “next big thing” Sidepiece, Bassrush Experience, Feed Me, G Jones, Cheyenne Giles, GraveDgr, Green Velvet, Highlnd, Blunts and Blondes, Drezo, Jonn Summit, Kaivon, and of course, the fabulous Alison Wonderland, among many others.
Going into night 2, the festival invited Loud Luxury, Bijou, Levitate, Felix Cartal, Kendoll, Eprom, Moore Kismet, Vanic, Wax Motif, Malaa, Regard, Rezz, HHerb, Steve Aoki, and more to their explosively colorful stages.
Especially in a time of social distancing and silence, Beyond Wonderland was a welcome epiphany in music, color, and socialization. We will be clear: it was worth it just for the visual pageantry. But the music elevates the event to something truly worthy of your time as a magnificent experience.
