Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/9/25 – With the recent brush fires in West Hollywood, Pacific Palisades, and surrounding areas, it’s important to be prepared for potential evacuations. If you’re in an affected area, here’s a quick checklist of what to pack to ensure your safety and comfort:

Essentials to Pack:

1. Identification & Important Documents:

  • Driver’s license, Social Security cards, insurance information, medical records, passports, and any other important documents.
  • Store copies in a fireproof safe or a secure, easily accessible location.

2. Medication & Medical Supplies:

  • Include prescriptions, over-the-counter meds, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and any medical equipment or supplies you may need.

3. Clothing & Footwear:

  • Pack several changes of clothes, sturdy shoes, a jacket or sweater, and a hat.
  • Be prepared for changing weather conditions as temperatures can vary.

4. Food & Water:

  • Stock up on non-perishable food (canned goods, granola bars, dried fruits) and bottled water to keep you sustained.

5. First-Aid Kit:

  • Include bandages, gauze, pain relievers, and any other personal medical needs.

6. Hygiene Supplies:

  • Don’t forget essentials like toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, and any other toiletries you’ll need.

7. Important Contacts:

  • A list of emergency contacts (family, friends, doctors, and veterinarians) stored in an easily accessible place.

8. Cash & Credit Cards:

  • Carry a small amount of cash and have your credit cards handy for purchases or emergencies.

9. Pet Supplies:

  • Food, water, leashes, carriers, medications, and anything else your pets will need to stay comfortable.

10. Comfort Items:

  • Pack blankets, pillows, books, or games to help reduce stress and provide comfort during an evacuation.

11. Chargers & Power Banks:

  • Ensure your phones, laptops, and other devices are fully charged and bring power banks just in case.

Additional Considerations:

  • Fuel Up: Keep your vehicle fueled and ready to go in case of an emergency.
  • Designated Meeting Place: Set up a meeting place for your family in case you get separated.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up with local news, emergency alerts, and evacuation updates.
  • Follow Evacuation Orders: If evacuation orders are issued, follow them immediately without delay.
