Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 3/4/25 – Thinking about traveling this summer? Before you pack your bags, make sure you’re ready for a smooth journey! If you’re a California resident, getting your REAL ID is essential, and you’ll need the right documents to make it happen. To apply, you’ll need proof of your identity, date of birth, Social Security number, address, and legal status. Acceptable documents include a valid U.S. passport or passport card, your original or certified birth certificate, a valid Permanent Resident Card, a foreign passport with a valid U.S. visa and I-94 form, your Social Security card, and two proof-of-residency documents from California.
Ready to apply? Start by filling out the online application at realid.dmv.ca.gov. Then, upload your documents, save your confirmation code, and head to a DMV office with your materials. Don’t forget starting May 7, 2025, you’ll need a REAL ID (or another approved ID) for domestic air travel and access to certain federal facilities. Make sure you’re ready to take off without a hitch!
