Happy 5th Anniversary to Mary: The Mary Tyler Moore Story which is now available in audiobook form

The Mary Tyler Moore Show featured Mary as an aspiring news producer at a small TV station in Minneapolis, surrounded by a magnificent supporting cast of (front, left to right) Gavin MacLeod as newsman Murray Slaughter; Mary; Ted Knight, who played Ted Baxter, the pompous anchor; (back) Valerie Harper as neighbor Rhoda Morgenstern; Ed Asner as crusty News Editor in Chief Lou Grant; and Cloris Leachman as pesky landlady and neighbor Phyllis Lindstrom. Harper and Leachman each got spin-off sitcoms, Harper in Rhoda and Lindstrom in Phyllis, and Asner got an hour-long drama, Lou Grant.
Before she got her own show, Mary Tyler Moore, right, got her start on TV as Laura Petrie, wife of Rob Petrie, the head writer of The Alan Brady Show played brilliantly by Dick Van Dyke. Co-starring Morey Amsterdam and Rose Marie as Rob’s fellow writers Buddy Sorrell and Sally Rogers; Richard Deacon as Mel Cooley, producer of The Alan Brady Show and the star’s long-suffering brother-in-law; Carl Reiner as Alan Brady; and Larry Mathews (right) as the couple’ son, Richie Petrie, the show ran for five seasons and 158 episodes on the CBS network
