Hairstylist Jim Markham has styled some of the world’s most famous celebrities, including Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson, and even Wolfman Jack. A protege of Jay Sebring, the celebrity hairstylist who was murdered along with Sharon Tate by Charles Manson’s followers, he introduced a generation of men to a new way of caring for their hair. He has founded several companies, including PureOlogy, which pioneered the sulfate-free movement in hair care, and ABBA Pure and Natural, one of the first to market vegan, PETA-approved hair products. Together with his wife and business partner, interior designer Cheryl Markham, he has won numerous awards for business, including Beauty Industry West Entrepreneur of the Year.
Now the Markhams have listed their exquisitely crafted Newport Beach home for sale at $14.9 million. The remarkable estate includes 5,866 square feet of living space on a secluded private peninsula. They personally developed the home from the ground up, using only the finest materials and craftsmanship, in line with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. The Hamptons-inspired home features an airy open floor plan with La Cantina retractable doors for seamless indoor/outdoor living, bright white walls, solid white oak flooring, a brand-new slate roof, and a classy, contemporary aesthetic.
