Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 9/20/24 – Last night, GLAAD, the world’s leading LGBTQ media advocacy organization, launched Latine Heritage Month with a vibrant night of comedy at Creative Artists Agency in Los Angeles. The event featured an impressive lineup of talented performers, including Danielle Perez, Gabe González, Lorena Russ, and Roz Hernandez, who kept the audience entertained and engaged.

Among the attendees were notable creatives and industry professionals such as Damian Terriquez, Mimi Davila, Salina EsTitties, and Tony Rodriguez, all there to celebrate and support the vital work of GLAAD.

The highlight of the evening was an exclusive first look at the upcoming season of Dímelo, a groundbreaking digital series from GLAAD and LatiNation. The show offers a sharp and humorous examination of stereotypes while revealing surprising statistics about the representation of Latine communities in the media. Hosted by Gabe González, Dímelo features a diverse array of interviews with comedic talents like Vico Ortiz, Lorena Russi, Roz Hernandez, Danielle Perez, and Ian Paget. Select episodes are now streaming on YouTube and the LatiNation app.

Produced by GLAAD’s Spanish-Language & Latine Media team within the GLAAD Media Institute, Dímelo is the brainchild of Executive Producers Monica Trasandes, Gwendolyn Pointer, and LatiNation CEO Andrés Palencia. The series was brought to life by producers Gabe González, Isa Fernandez, and Ross Murray, with direction from Tyler Miguel Mercer.

The event and the new season of Dímelo come at a crucial time, as GLAAD’s recent research indicates a troubling decline in Latine representation in television and film. Their latest Where We Are on TV report highlights a significant drop in LGBTQ Latine characters, raising concerns about visibility in an industry where Latines are the demographic most likely to identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.

As the industry grapples with these issues, the importance of platforms like Dímelo, which showcases the talents and perspectives of underrepresented voices, is more urgent than ever. The laughter of the night served as a reminder of the resilience and creativity within the Latine LGBTQ+ community and the pressing need for their stories to be told.

With the celebration of Latine Heritage Month underway, GLAAD continues to advocate for greater representation and inclusivity, ensuring that diverse voices are heard and valued in all facets of media.
