“Kelly are you in?” I heard from behind me as we all made our way into the Camelot theater at the Palm Springs Cultural Center (PSCC). “I’m in!” Kelly screamed back from inside the theater.
The energy was electric and exciting as we all made our way to our seats at this year’s first Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus Sing-Along event. The film was Guys and Dolls starring Frank Sinatra and Maron Brando. Kelly asked me if I can sing to which I replied no before she sat behind me. We all laughed and before we knew it the film started. Many of us were watching it for the first time and it was really great discovering films together as a community.
I asked Jeff Hocker from The Palm Springs Men’s Chorus what his favorite part was. “Definitely Maron Brando as the lead. I had never seen the film before and loved all of the incredible dance numbers. I am most excited about seeing Singing in the Rain on the Big Screen.” Not everyone sings or knows the words at the sing a long but it sure was a great way to beat the heat and connect with the community in our lovely little world famous town.
Every Sunday this summer join the Palm Springs Gay Mens Chorus at 3pm for Classic Movie Musicals on the Big Screen, and sing along to your heart’s content!
