Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/4/25 – Hollywood’s brightest stars gathered on Friday evening for the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala, a night dedicated to celebrating outstanding performances and cinematic accomplishments.
Nicole Kidman received the International Star Award for her performance in Babygirl, and she graciously dedicated the honor to her mother.
Ariana Grande was presented with the Rising Star Award for her role in Wicked. “I’ve been performing since I was a child, so I never thought that at 31, I would be hearing the words Rising Star again,” Grande shared with the audience.
Breakthrough performances were also recognized, with Mikey Madison and Kieran Culkin both celebrated for their exceptional work.
Timothée Chalamet was awarded the Chairman’s Award for A Complete Unknown, and Denis Villeneuve earned the Visionary Award for Dune: Part Two.
Angelina Jolie received the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her portrayal of Maria. “Thank you for giving space, for my madness, for this and for Maria,” Jolie expressed. “For allowing me to have a voice and to find mine again.”
The Ensemble Performance Award was presented to the cast of Conclave, while Emilia Perez took home the Vanguard Award, with director and cast members, including Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana, accepting the honor.
The night was praised as a celebration of the future of cinema, reflecting the magic and excitement that make Palm Springs a hub for film excellence.
