Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/5/23 – On February 5th Epic will be relaunching its streaming service MGM+, which is set to incorporate original and curated movies from various studios, including RJ Cutler’s true crime docuseries based on infamous jewel thief Jack Ronald Murphy AKA Murf the Surf. The four-part docuseries will explore the life of one of the most infamous criminals in American History. From robberies, to shootouts, to high-speed chases, murphy lived a life of unspeakable crime. The most memorable of them all was his participation in the 1964 Jewel Heist of The American Museum of Natural History in New York City. This incident catapulted his name into mass culture, eventually leading to his arrest and lifetime prison sentence.

While most of us would have run out of luck Murf managed to turn his life around in prison, leading to his advance release and an opportunity to help other inmates find solace via spirituality.

Viewers can expect to be taken on a ride as Cutler finds ways to deconstruct fact and fiction.

The four-part series will be available February 5th on Epix’s linear channel as well as MGM+ streaming services.
