The death of the superhero blockbuster has been, well, mildly exaggerated as Deadpool & Wolverine retains the top spot at the box office in its second week, bringing in an impressive $97 million for a domestic total so far of $395.6 million.

This film is absolutely bananas. Incredibly funny! Probably THE funniest in the Deadpool trilogy so far. Many of the jokes literally had me in tears with laughter, which is something none of the other films in the trilogy did. Granted, all the Deadpool films are incredibly funny, and he is a funny character as written, but Ryan Reynolds nails this character’s wit, charm, and humor so well in this one! He IS Deadpool!

Hugh Jackman obviously slays (literally and figuratively) as Wolverine, and, according to the plot, the WORST version of Wolverine LOLZ
Their banter was absolute LEGEND (e.g. the “they’re gonna make you do this until you’re 90!” line LMFAOOOOOO). They played off of each other so well! I enjoyed their dialogue immensely. Even their fight scenes were choreographed humorously!
The once invincible superhero universe has seemed increasingly vulnerable recently.

From a technical perspective, this film totally slaps. The soundtrack is amazing, and the fight scenes are all really good. Cinematographer George Richmond pairs Panavision Ultra Vista and VA Lenses (#AnamorphicONLY!!!!) with Arri Alexa LF cinema cameras to give us some INCREDIBLE images!

And yes, there are TONS of awesome cameos! Wesley Snipes is in here as Blade (YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!), Wunmi Mosaku as B-15, Jennifer Garner is in here as Elektra, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Chris Evans is (a hilariously foul mouthed) Johnny Storm, Chris Hemsworth is (kind of) in here as Thor, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Aaron Stanford as Pyro, Dafne Keen as X-23, Blake Lively as Ladypool, Aaron W. Reed as Juggernaut, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Mike Waters as Blob, Matthew McConaughey as Cowboypool, Nathan Fillion as Headpool, Daniel Medina Ramos as Toad, Tyler Mane as Sabertooth, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Rob Delaney as Peterpool, and motherfucking Henry “He Will ALWAYS Be The Best Superman Of ALL Time” Cavill as The Cavillrine (which was incredibly funny, complete with Mission: Impossible – Fallout style arm reloading LMFAO).

All the cameos were awesome, well placed, and actually integral to the plot. They made sense. The way they tied in all the somewhat disparate cinematic universes, from the MCU films to the MCU TV shows to the Sony and Fox superhero universes and even the DCEU and films like The Greatest Showman (which starred Jackman) and non-superhero TV shows like Gossip Girl, was brilliant. On paper, it should have been a mess, an absolute MESS. But goddammit, they pulled it off!

This film was entertaining from the first frame to the last. An absolute blast to watch! If you weren’t a fan of the type of admittedly juvenile, somewhat dark humor that permeates all the Deadpool films (which is a core part of the character, BTW; that’s precisely how he is in the comics), then this one won’t convert you. It’s pretty much more of that but turned up to 11. And speaking of turning up, the gore in this is probably the most intense in the trilogy; the opening sequence was particularly bloody, with a couple of the kills in the first fight DEFINITELY pushing this into R-rated territory. Needless to say, this is NOT for children, but you knew that already LOLZ
I’m for sure gonna watch this a few more times to catch all the awesome references and nods to other things in the MCU/Fox and Sony Superhero Universes/DCEU/other superhero universes. I loved the Rob Liefield (the creator of the Deadpool character) nod in the attached pic! It was nice to see things like that peppered throughout the film.
GO WATCH THIS HILARIOUS ASS FILM NOWWWWWWWWW
And why the fuck was Thor crying over Deadpool? They never did explain that. Or maybe I missed it? Someone school me in the comments LOLZ
