Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 8/5/23 – When true love and family ties have us in its grip, it is difficult to let go when life asks us to. If your loved one passes on, if granted the opportunity to go back in time to correct events leading up to the ordeal, would you? Without hesitation most of us would, even if the fabric of reality would forever change in exchange for your loved one’s resurgence. Director Jared Moshé’s film Aporia illustrates a woman in peril having lost the love of her life and a decision she makes to piece her family back together.
The sci-fi drama finds widow Sophie (Judy Greer) grieving the loss of her husband Mal (Edi Gathegi) whilst taking care of their adolescent daughter. In the midst of the sadness that threatens to rip apart the remaining family members, Judy finds her late husband’s colleague and agrees to do something that will, unbeknownst to them, change the fabric of reality: go back in time and save Mal’s life with the help of their quantum time machine. Of course, something of this scientific magnitude does not come without its repercussions. Throughout the compelling film, viewers can expect to see just how one event can change reality as we know it.
While the happenings of this film are a bit far-fetched, the feelings associated with what humans would do if they could correct what has transpired with their loved ones is extremely poignant and relevant. If you are in the Westwood area, be sure to catch the live screening of Aporia on Wednesday, August 9th!
