Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/14/24 – On Saturday night, the adult film industry gathered for a unique screening hosted by Adult Time and The Hollywood Times was there to capture it all. Instead of the usual explicit fare, attendees were treated to the R-rated version of director Bree Mills’ latest film, Birth, featuring performances by Casey Calvert, Seth Gamble, and Leana Lovings. The evening was filled with glamour, complete with red-carpet arrivals and a host of Adult Time Brand Ambassadors.

Mills, who also serves as the Chief Creative Officer of Adult Time, expressed her excitement and nerves before the screening. “Once the film starts, I’ll be able to relax,” she shared. “This isn’t just my film; it’s a collective effort from everyone involved. Seeing everyone’s reactions live is incredible.”

The event took place at Hollywood’s Bourbon Room, where the atmosphere was reminiscent of an art house cinema. Guests enjoyed gourmet snacks, including exotic cheeses and vegetarian bites, as the aroma of freshly popped popcorn filled the air. This combination of sophistication and entertainment set the tone for an intriguing cinematic experience.

In Birth, Calvert and Gamble portray Laura and Matthew, a young couple facing emotional turmoil. Matthew’s growing obsession with “alpha male” ideals strains their relationship, while Laura, desperate to start a family, becomes increasingly unsettled. As Matthew takes control of the situation, the film delves into psychological horror, showcasing the complexities of pregnancy and mental health.

Lovings plays Grace, a devoted birthing doula hired by Matthew. Before the screening, she hinted at the film’s intense psychological layers, stating, “It’s thrilling to be part of something that explores such depth. The tension builds beautifully until it explodes during the climax.”

Calvert, who immerses herself in the role of the troubled expectant mother, shared her own discomforts while wearing realistic belly prostheses for her character. “The third-trimester belly was incredibly heavy and restrictive. It gave me a small glimpse into the physical challenges of pregnancy,” she noted.

Gamble’s character, initially relatable, takes a darker turn as the narrative unfolds. He described his preparation for the role as emotionally taxing, admitting, “It was the hardest role I’ve ever played. You think you know my character, but then the story reveals much more.”

The audience, a mix of industry veterans and emerging talents, responded with shock and laughter throughout the 80-minute screening. Notable attendees included industry figures like Sara Luvv, Eli Cross, and AVN’s reigning MILF Performer of the Year, Penny Barber.

While some may wonder if Birth fits into the traditional adult film viewing experience, Mills assured viewers that its X-rated version expands on the themes introduced in the R-rated cut, including a pregnancy-themed gangbang and a humorous “Yoni massage” scene.
