Pasadena, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/28/24 – Visiting the historic Gamble House in Pasadena during Fall Art Night was truly a remarkable experience! Famously featured as Dr. Emmett Brown’s residence in Back to the Future, this stunning home was originally built as a winter retreat for the Gamble family, founders of the Procter & Gamble Company. Designed by architects Greene and Greene and completed in 1908, it stands as one of the largest and finest examples of Craftsman-style architecture in Southern California. The house showcases significant Japanese architectural influences, particularly in its roof design, staircase, and various lanterns. The Gamble family generously gifted the house to the city of Pasadena with the stipulation that it be inhabited by two architecture students from the University of Southern California. It has been meticulously restored, with even the lighting carefully calibrated to reflect the ambiance from when it was originally built.
