Collection Includes Covers and New Songs

After a 10 year absence of new music, Heart of Texas Records and StarVista Music announced the digital release of country western singer Jody Nix’s new album, It’s About Time. The album is currently available on all major streaming services.
Nix describes It’s About Time as a blend of real country music, traditional western swing, and a touch of 90s influence, reflecting the rich musical heritage of Texas. “I want everyone to know that this is real country music, as traditional as it gets, along with western swing and a little bit 90s,” explains Nix. “I feel great about it. I’m honored and blessed beyond measure and thankful we’re getting out there for everybody.”
In addition to new tracks, the album features a selection of cover songs, each uniquely styled by Nix and his band and chosen with care. “We didn’t want to do songs that have been over-recorded and also want to pick ones that are beloved by our fans. For instance, we play ‘Memory Maker’ by Mel Tillis a lot at our dances, so I wanted to record it for this album. And I have been asked countless times through the years to please put ‘Faded Love’ by Bob Wills on an album.”

It’s About Time also introduces two news track, “First From the Last” and “The First Time to Fall,” both written by Jody’s longtime friend Jerry Webb. “He’s a great writer, singer, and musician in his own right and when I was looking for something new for this project, I thought of him. They’re really good country dance tunes and tell quite a story,” Nix noted.
Jody Nix’s dedication to preserving and celebrating the roots of country music shines through in It’s About Time. This album promises to be a treasured addition to the collections of western swing and country music fans everywhere.
