The Palm Springs festival brings filmmakers, performers and audiences together for two weekends devoted to the breadth of queer life on screen.

Palm Springs, CA (The Hollywood Times) 9/18/26 – Cinema Diverse is once again welcoming LGBTQ+ filmmakers and movie lovers to the Coachella Valley, returning for its 19th year with a wide-ranging celebration of queer stories, voices and creative talent.
Presented across two weekends, September 17–20 and September 24–27, the 2026 festival takes place at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. This year’s schedule includes more than 100 short films, narrative features, documentaries and streaming series, offering audiences many ways to experience the lives and perspectives found throughout the LGBTQ+ community.
That variety is one of Cinema Diverse’s defining strengths. The program creates room for intimate personal stories alongside larger social and cultural explorations, while giving both established artists and emerging filmmakers a place to connect directly with viewers. Comedy, romance, drama, history and activism all share the screen, reflecting a community that has never been represented by a single experience.
Palm Springs provides a fitting home for the festival. The city’s longstanding ties to entertainment and its vibrant LGBTQ+ population make Cinema Diverse more than a series of screenings. It becomes a gathering place where films can spark conversations, introduce audiences to unfamiliar experiences and remind viewers of the value of seeing queer lives portrayed with honesty and complexity.
