Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 6/13/26 – The Television Critics Association (TCA) has officially announced the nominees for its 42nd Annual TCA Awards, recognizing the year’s most outstanding achievements in television across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.
This year’s nominations reflect the increasingly diverse and ambitious landscape of television, with prestige dramas, groundbreaking comedies, innovative newcomers, and international hits all earning recognition from the organization’s more than 220 professional television journalists across the United States and Canada.
Leading the pack with five nominations each are three standout series: Heated Rivalry (Crave/HBO Max), Industry (HBO Max), and Widow’s Bay (Apple TV+). All three will compete for the coveted Program of the Year award, widely considered one of the television industry’s most respected honors because it is voted on exclusively by critics.

The trio faces stiff competition from a remarkable field that includes last year’s Program of the Year winner The Pitt, along with acclaimed favorites Hacks, Shrinking, The Comeback, Pluribus, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
One of the most significant developments for 2026 is the expansion of the TCA Awards roster to 14 categories. For the first time, the organization will honor excellence in both Animation and International Series.
The inaugural Outstanding Achievement in Animation category features an impressive lineup that includes The Simpsons, South Park, Invincible, Bob’s Burgers, and Hulu’s revival of King of the Hill.
Meanwhile, the new Outstanding Achievement in International Series category recognizes the growing influence of global television. Nominees include Netflix’s worldwide phenomenon Squid Game, Japanese reality favorite The Boyfriend, Apple TV+’s Drops of God, and several acclaimed productions from around the globe.
The additions acknowledge the increasingly international and genre-spanning nature of modern television viewing.
The Outstanding Achievement in Drama category may be among the most competitive races this year.
Nominees include Industry, Heated Rivalry, The Pitt, Hulu’s Paradise, Pluribus, Task, The Gilded Age, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the highly anticipated fantasy series based on the works of George R. R. Martin.
The Individual Achievement in Drama category is equally stacked, featuring performers such as Sterling K. Brown, Rhea Seehorn, Noah Wyle, Marisa Abela, Myha’la, Ken Leung, David Harbour, Katherine LaNasa, Connor Storrie, and Hudson Williams.
In comedy, fan favorites and fresh faces share the spotlight.
The Outstanding Achievement in Comedy category includes previous winners Abbott Elementary and Hacks, alongside newcomers Widow’s Bay, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, The Lowdown, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, and Shrinking.
The acting race features a who’s who of comedic talent, including Jean Smart, Harrison Ford, Lisa Kudrow, Hannah Einbinder, Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn, Elle Fanning, and Tim Robinson.
Late-night television remains a force in the TCA Awards, with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver all earning nominations.
Reality television continues to be represented by a broad mix of competition, lifestyle, and relationship-focused programming. Returning champion, The Traitors seeks a third consecutive victory against contenders including Survivor, Top Chef, Love on the Spectrum, Couples Therapy, and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
In News and Information, respected institutions such as 60 Minutes and Frontline compete alongside documentary and news-focused programming from multiple platforms.
A review of the nominations reveals HBO Max’s continued dominance in prestige television, with Industry, The Pitt, Hacks, The Comeback, Task, DTF St. Louis, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms all receiving significant recognition.
Apple TV+ also had an impressive showing with Widow’s Bay, Shrinking, Pluribus, and Margo’s Got Money Troubles earning multiple nominations.
The strong performance of streaming platforms underscores the ongoing evolution of television storytelling and audience engagement.
For more than four decades, the Television Critics Association Awards have offered a unique perspective on television excellence. Unlike many industry awards, the TCA honors are determined solely by television journalists who spend the year watching, reviewing, interviewing, and analyzing programming across the entertainment landscape.
Winners of the 42nd Annual TCA Awards will be announced later this summer through the organization’s official social media channels.
As television continues to evolve, the 2026 nominees demonstrate that the medium remains one of the most dynamic and creatively ambitious forms of storytelling in entertainment today.
