Virginia native, American Idol alum, and 2025 Josie Awards Country Vocalist of the Year, Carrie Brockwell, is set to release her latest single, “That’s Real,” on May 1, 2026. The track serves as the title track from her highly anticipated new record, arriving May 29, 2026, and promises to solidify Brockwell’s status as one of country music’s most authentic voices.

Written by Carrie Brockwell and Brian Fechino and produced and mixed by Fechino, “That’s Real” combines the storytelling heart of classic country with contemporary Americana textures. The single showcases Brockwell’s signature ability to deliver vulnerability and honesty through her vocals, drawing listeners into the intimate moments and emotions that inspired the song. “That’s Real” is a reflection on authenticity, relationships, and the courage it takes to embrace life fully, even when it’s complicated.

“The story behind “That’s Real” is deeply personal and reflects who I truly am. When Brian Fechino and I first started working on the record, he noticed that in almost every conversation I would say, “that’s real.” It became my own kind of shorthand for “true” or “I agree,” something I said so naturally that I didn’t even realize it, until Brian pointed it out and said, “We have to write that.” From there, the phrase evolved into the central concept of the record. We explored what “that’s real” really means, and the song became about letting go, not worrying about what others think, and embracing the joy of being genuine and fully yourself.

In a world full of distractions, like constant comparison, that can cloud our minds, the message is about releasing those pressures and finding freedom and fun in authenticity. While it touches on the everyday, sometimes silly things we all experience, at its core, the song celebrates positivity and the joy that comes from choosing to live fully.”
