About Patrick A Donovan
Patrick A Donovan is a U.S. Navy veteran, author, technologist, and multi-disciplinary creator whose career spans more than three decades across software engineering, 5 decades with architecture, entertainment, and storytelling. A natural builder—of systems, structures, and stories—Donovan began his professional journey at just sixteen, working alongside his late father at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York. That early exposure to precision, craft, and innovation shaped everything that followed.
A seasoned software engineer and documentation expert, Donovan is known for his meticulous approach to complex problem-solving, having produced hundreds of technical reports and systems analyses across Fortune-level projects and government programs. His entrepreneurial work has influenced architecture, construction, and residential design where he collaborates with contractors, engineers, and municipalities to bring homes, ADUs, decks, and commercial spaces to life.
But behind the engineer, magician, musician, and DJ lives the storyteller.
Mr. Donovan is the creator of several expansive science-fiction universes, including FutureCAST, Target of Darkness, Lunar Breach, and the newest entry, The Neuron Paradox. His cinematic writing blends hard science, mythic history, and character-driven suspense, drawing inspiration from Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, and classic adventure serials. His flagship project, Project Abaddon: Rise of the Destroyer, has earned multi-award recognition, and he continues to develop film properties, concept trailers, and series materials through Magic Hammer Entertainment, LLC.

As a lifelong fan of Clive Cussler, I’ve always been drawn to tales of daring explorers, underwater mystery, cutting-edge science, and villains whose ambition threatens the world. Cussler’s blend of adventure and technical accuracy taught me that fiction can be thrilling and smart.
From James Patterson, I learned the art of pacing, chapter rhythm, and the punch of scene-to-scene movement.
And from Kristine Kathryn Rusch, especially her brilliant Retrieval Artist series, I learned about world-building with moral complexity—where law, humanity, ethics, and survival collide in unpredictable ways.
These writers helped shape the foundations of my storytelling. With FUTURECAST—and especially with this newly refined edition—I feel closer than ever to honoring the legacy of the authors who shaped me.
