Last night, I had the pleasure of catching a show at ZEBULON in Frogtown, LA. The headliner was the amazing Jesika Von Rabbit, who has a new album titled BunnyWood Babylon (DIONYSUS RECORDS), which was released in June of this year. She has been touring, and getting to see her perform randomly last night was such a gift. Her music has a nostalgic quality to me; she describes it as “Electronica Americana,” but it reminds me of the Electroclash era, infused with a modern flair and commentary on American life.

There’s an instant familiarity to her sound that makes me wonder if I’ve been here before or if everything is happening according to plan. She played many songs from her new album, which are psychedelic, atmospheric, and futuristic. The performance featured just her and her bassist, Lee Joseph. Jesika handled the vocals, keyboards, and guitar, while Lee contributed bass and background vocals. I found him quite interesting; he wore all white from head to toe, complete with white cowboy boots.
After the show, I chatted with him a bit, and he mentioned that they’re headed to the Pacific Northwest next. Their performance was a lot of fun to watch, and they were accompanied by stage performers in interesting costumes who had several wardrobe changes throughout the show.
Check out the new album, BunnyWood Babylon, available on digital platforms and vinyl LP. For more information, you can find Jesika Von Rabbit online.
