Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 02/28/2025—There are people out there destined to be stars. Coco Laud is on the verge of becoming a household name and a global superstar with her celebrated culinary gifts, charming radio personality, and strategic businesses.
Coco has taken on many roles as a plant-based chef, TV cooking host, podcaster, radio host, mother of five, and wife. On top of all that, she is a self-managed team of one. Laud, have mercy! The Hollywood Times delved into Coco’s career journey, her passion for changing the narrative of black families in media, and her current and upcoming projects.
Striving For Black Family Representation
Being a one-woman team means you must be persistent and resilient. Especially in the media and culinary world. Being a proud mother of talented children. Coco Laud talked about the media’s lack of positive representation of black families. “I would say the thing that keeps me going is the importance of changing the narrative of the black family in the perspective of other communities.” She said, “So tired of the shows we’ve been allowed to do, the boxes, tropes, and stereotypes. We’ve been kept in these boxes. It irritates me.
As we both acknowledged, there has been a dwindling number of shows focusing on black families or representation since the 90s and early 2000s. There used to be shows like Family Matters, The Cosby Show, Girlfriends, Living Single, and A Different World. Movies and television studios are not concerned with showing monoracial black women or men. Instead, the replacement of darker-skinned characters, played by bi-racial individuals like Amandla Stenberg, is the new normal.
Laud Have Mercy! Current Projects Are Here
Sometimes, you have to be the change you want to see. Coco is working on a reality show focusing on her family dynamics and authentic challenges and experiences. The show has been pitched to diverse networks with great interest and potential development deals. She noted, “Laud Have Mercy! What the Huxtables would look like if they had a reality show.” Unlike some standard black reality shows seen on the network. Coco is focused on sharing elevated and positive energies. There will be no low-vibration trips that are toxic
As a radio personality on Choppin it Up with Coco, a popular plant-based radio show, she provides excellent tips, recipes, and trends for eating better. Her intoxicating personality shines through. Not to mention her Hollywood star-studded show quests, adding humor to an already charming show.
Coco Laud also started a podcast called Sexy Mama’s Podcast to provide a platform for women to share valuable life lessons and experiences beyond societal perceptions. In hopes of empowerment, resilience, and redefining what it means to be “sexy” by highlighting inner strength and achievements.
She is expanding with her successful vegan cookie business, The Baddest Cookies, and will include it on store shelves.
Coco’s Future Plans and Opportunities

Everything she has achieved has been earned and worked tirelessly on. Coco Laud has a nursing and health management background. Plus, she has a master’s in business to back it all up with all her goals. This woman is in the midst of so many high-achieving ideas. Such as a cooking show
incorporating Coco’s plant-based expertise and creative culinary techniques, such as transforming banana blossom into fried fish. She is also expanding into developing a seasoning line using Moringa, a superfood. Other products considered are vegan caramels, boozy whip, and diverse sauces.
Coco often leverages her extensive network and experiences to secure brand deals with Fortune 500 companies and influential figures. She has cooked on over 40 live TV segments and graced Tasty, BuzzFeed, Today Show, Twin City Live, and more. She has partnered with Snoop Company and Venus Williams Company for product testing and endorsements. She is potentially in the process of securing a high-profile partnership with the NBA.
