SHERMAN OAKS, CA (The Hollywood Times) 10/30/24 – The “My Fairy Godfathers” Foundation was established in Tampa, Florida in 2017 by celebrity stylists Andrew Ashton and Steven Anderson. Their mission for Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Sprinkle a little joy among cancer warriors by providing custom-styled wigs to women suffering hair loss from chemotherapy. This week, the Godfathers trekked out to California to provide some of their beauty magic.
“For many women, hair loss can be just as catastrophic as the illness and treatment they are going through,” says “fairy godfather” Anderson. “Our goal is to make these women feel beautiful and more like themselves during an incredibly emotional time.”
“We are delighted to welcome one of our favorites, ‘My Fairy Godfathers,’ back to WeSPARK,” says actress Nancy Allen, Executive Director of the Sherman Oaks-based cancer center. “We are so grateful to host an incredible organization that brings positivity and joy.”
The Godfathers also visited the Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara in Thousand Oaks, offering a customized beauty experience to more than 70 women in all.
For more than a decade, the celebrity hair/makeup duo have been empowering women through beauty. Ashton and Anderson say this is their passion; they believe everyone deserves a little sparkle, a boost of confidence and a whole lot of love. Whether it is abuse, illness or an environment that seems designed to keep them from success, “My Fairy Godfathers” provides women with the tools to help them shine as brightly on the outside as they do within.
In their first year, they threw a Fairytale Ball that drew a crowd of more than 400 and raised more than $220,000. Whether it’s supporting those battling cancer with wigs, surprising teens with beauty bags and Prom experiences, or awarding deserving students with scholarships to help prepare them for college, their generosity has helped over 5,000 recipients nationwide to date.
WeSPARK Cancer Support Center was founded in 2001 by actress Wendie Jo Sperber to provide free programs and services which alleviate the physical and emotional side effects of a cancer diagnosis. In the past 23 years, the center has welcomed thousands of patients, survivors and their loved ones.
